Abstract
【解決手段】発光デバイスは、有機エレクトロルミネッセンス(EL)素子(100、200)のスタックを含み、スタック内の有機EL素子は別の有機EL素子の少なくとも一部分に重なり、かつそれぞれの有機EL素子は電気的に分離している(50)ようになっている。スタック内の有機EL素子の各々は、異なるレベルの電圧(110、210)で活性化される。

Description
有機EL素子を製造した。各々は、青色、緑色又は赤色光を発光する有機ELポリマーを含む。有機ELポリマーは、American Dye Source,Inc.(カナダ、ケベック州、Baie d’Urfeに所在)から購入し、それらは、カタログ番号ADS329BE(青色発光)、ADS132GE(緑色発光)及びADS200RE(赤色発光)を有していた。ADS329BEは、N,N’−ビス(4−メチルフェニル−4−アニリン)でエンドキャップされたポリ(9,9−ジオクチルフルオレニル−2,7−ジイル)である。ADS132GEは、ポリ(9,9−ジオクチルフルオレニル−2,7−ジイル)−アルト−コ−(N,N’−ジフェニル)−N,N’−ジ(p−ブチル−オキシフェニル)−1,4−ジアミノベンゼンである。ADS200REは、多面体オリゴマーシルセスキオキサンでエンドキャップされたポリ{2−メトキシ−5−(2−エチルヘキシルオキシ)−1,4−フェニレンビニレン}である。

Claims (26)
- 1つの有機EL素子が別の有機EL素子の少なくとも一部分に重なるようにスタックの形態で配置された複数の有機EL素子を含み、
前記有機EL素子が、電気的に分離している、
発光デバイス。 - 各有機EL素子が、異なる電圧で活性化される、請求項1記載の発光デバイス。
- 各有機EL素子が、異なる電流で活性化される、請求項1記載の発光デバイス。
- 各有機EL素子が、一対の電極間に配置された有機EL材料を含む、請求項1記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記1つの有機EL素子の有機EL材料が、前記別の有機EL素子の有機EL材料と同一である、請求項1記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記1つの有機EL素子の有機EL材料が、前記別の有機EL素子の有機EL材料と異なる、請求項1記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記電極の1つが、インジウムスズ酸化物、酸化スズ、酸化インジウム、酸化亜鉛、インジウム亜鉛酸化物、亜鉛インジウムスズ酸化物、酸化アンチモン、カーボンナノチューブ、銀、金及びそれらの混合物からなる群から選択された材料を含む、請求項4記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記電極の1つが、カソードであり、かつK、Li、Na、Mg、Ca、Sr、Ba、Al、Ag、Au、In、Sn、Zn、Zr、Sc、Y、ランタニド系列の元素、それらの合金、それらの混合物、Ag−Mg合金、Al−Li合金、In−Mg合金、Al−Ca合金、LiF、KF及びNaFからなる群から選択された材料を含む、請求項4記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記電極の1つが、カソードであり、かつインジウムスズ酸化物、酸化スズ、酸化インジウム、酸化亜鉛、インジウム亜鉛酸化物、亜鉛インジウムスズ酸化物、酸化アンチモン、カーボンナノチューブ及びそれらの混合物からなる群から選択された材料を含む、請求項4記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記カソードが、約1nm〜約10nmの厚さを有する層である、請求項9記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記有機EL材料が、ポリ(n−ビニルカルバゾール)、ポリフルオレン、ポリ(アルキルフルオレン)、ポリ(パラフェニレン)、ポリ(p−フェニレンビニレン)、ポリチオフェン、ポリ(ピリジンビニレン)、ポリキノキサリン、ポリ(キノリン)及びそれらの誘導体からなる群から選択された材料を含む、請求項4記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記有機EL材料が、ポリシランを含む、請求項4記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記ポリシランが、ポリ(ジ−n−ブチルシラン)、ポリ(ジ−n−ペンチルシラン)、ポリ(ジ−n−へキシルシラン)、ポリ(メチルフェニルシラン)及びポリ{ビス(p−ブチルフェニル)シラン}からなる群から選択される、請求項12記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記有機EL材料が、8−ヒドロキシキノリン、アルミニウム−アセチルアセトネート、ガリウム−アセチルアセトネート及びインジウム−アセチルアセトネートのそれぞれの有機金属錯体、アルミニウム−(ピコリメチルケトン)−ビス{2,6−ジ(t−ブチル)フェノキシド}、スカンジウム−(4−メトキシ−ピコリメチルケトン)−ビス(アセチルアセトネート)並びにそれらの混合物からなる群から選択された材料を含む、請求項4記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記スタック内の各有機EL素子が、異なる電圧レベルで活性化される、請求項4記載の発光デバイス。
- スタックの1つの有機EL素子が同一のスタックの別の有機EL素子の少なくとも一部分に重るようになった複数の有機EL素子スタックを含み、
前記同一のスタックのそれぞれの有機EL素子が、電気的に分離しており、
1つのスタックの1つの有機EL素子が、隣接するスタック内の別の有機EL素子に電気的に直列に接続され、
各有機EL素子が、一対の電極間に配置された有機EL材料を含む、
発光デバイス。 - 前記同一のスタックのそれぞれの有機EL素子が、異なる光色を発光する、請求項16記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記電気的に直列に接続されたそれぞれの有機EL素子が、同一の有機EL材料を含む、請求項16記載の発光デバイス。
- 各直列の有機EL素子が、異なる電圧レベルで活性化される、請求項16記載の発光デバイス。
- 発光デバイスを製造する方法であって、
スタックの1つの有機EL素子が該スタックの別の有機EL素子の少なくとも一部分と重なりかつ前記それぞれの有機EL素子が電気的に分離しているようなスタックの形態で、その各々が一対の電極間に配置された有機EL材料を含む複数の有機EL素子を配置する段階を含む、
方法。 - 発光デバイスを製造する方法であって、
(a)基板を準備する段階と、
(b)前記基板上に第1の有機EL素子を配置する段階と、
(c)前記第1の有機EL素子上に非導電性材料を配置する段階と、
(d)前記非導電性材料上に第2の有機EL素子を配置する段階と、を含み、
各有機EL素子が、第1の電極と第2の電極との間に挟まれた有機EL材料を含み、また前記非導電性材料が、前記第1及び第2の有機EL素子を電気的に分離するようにする、
方法。 - 前記有機EL素子を配置する段階が、
(1)下にある層上に第1の導電性材料を配置する段階と、
(2)前記第1の導電性材料上に有機EL材料を配置する段階と、
(3)前記有機EL材料上に第2の導電性材料を配置する段階と、
を含む、請求項21記載の方法。 - 前記導電性材料を配置する段階が、物理蒸着法、化学蒸着法及びスパッタリング法からなる群から選択された方法によって達成され、
前記有機EL材料を配置する段階が、物理蒸着法、化学蒸着法、スピンコーティング法、浸漬コーティング法、スプレー法、インクジェット印刷法、グラビアコーティング法、フレキソコーティング法、スクリーン印刷法及び注型法からなる群から選択された方法によって達成される、
請求項22記載の方法。 - 前記有機EL材料を配置する段階の後に、該有機EL材料の重合及び該有機EL材料の硬化からなる群から選択されたプロセスが続く、請求項21記載の方法。
- 光を発生させる方法であって、
スタックの1つの有機EL素子が該スタックの別の有機EL素子の少なくとも一部分と重なり、前記それぞれの有機EL素子が電気的に分離しており、かつ各有機EL素子が一対の電極間に配置された有機EL材料を含むようになった該スタックの複数の有機EL素子の各有機EL素子に対して、独立した電圧を供給する段階を含む、
方法。 - 光を発生させる方法であって、
スタックの1つの有機EL素子が該スタックの別の有機EL素子の少なくとも一部分と重なり、前記それぞれの有機EL素子が電気的に分離しており、かつ各有機EL素子が一対の電極間に配置された有機EL材料を含むようになった該スタックの複数の有機EL素子の各有機EL素子に対して、独立した電流を供給する段階を含む、
方法。
