Abstract
【解決手段】最小の内部障害を有するストリッパを備える熱交換器を含むポリマー分散物の連続的ストリッピング方法。方法は特に熱と剪断に感受性のある分散物に適応する。方法は単一ジャケット付きチューブ設計よりも効率的に疎水性VOCを抽出することが可能である。

Description
分散物ストリッピングに伴う問題を解決する他の試みは、米国特許第3,469,617号に見出される。第3,467,617号は連続蒸気ストリッピング装置として使用するためのプレートアンドフレーム熱交換器の使用について開示する。
ポリマー分散物と蒸気を提供し、分散物が水性エマルジョンポリマーと揮発性有機化合物を含むこと;
ポリマー分散物と蒸気をストリッパに供給すること;
揮発性有機化合物の少なくとも一部分を分散物から除去すること;
揮発性有機化合物の部分を蒸気に移送すること;および
セパレータ容器中で蒸気を水性エマルジョンポリマーから分離すること:を含み、
ストリッパは、
(a)少なくとも10:1 l/mの表面積対容積比を有し;および
(b)並列または直列に1個以上の熱交換器を含んでなり、熱交換器がシェルアンドチューブまたは螺旋状熱交換器である。
固体測定:2.5gのポリマー分散物を標準的な研究室秤を用いてアルミニウムトレイ上に計量する。サンプルをオーブン内に置いて水を蒸発させる。固体レベルはその前後の重量を用いて計算する。オーブン温度は150℃に設定し、サンプルを20分間加熱する。
VOC測定:VOCはHP5890ガスクロマトグラフで測定する。
運転条件は、

3つの方法の形態は、
(a)長さ54インチ(137.16cm)、直径1インチ(2.54cm)チューブによるストリッピング。
(b)長さ36インチ(91.44cm)の単一通路と10本の3/8インチ(0.9525cm)チューブの、シェルアンドチューブ熱交換器、熱交換器シェルの中心に10本のチューブを備える。
(c)長さ36インチ(91.44cm)の単一通路と10本の3/8インチ(0.9525cm)チューブの、シェルアンドチューブ熱交換器、熱交換器シェルの中心に5本のチューブを備え、中心を外れて5本のチューブを備える。
(2つの方法形態の比較)
2つの方法形態は、
(a)長さ54インチ(137.16cm)、直径2インチ(5.08cm)チューブによるストリッピング。
(b)長さ36インチ(91.44cm)の単一通路と40本の3/8インチ(0.9525cm)チューブの、シェルアンドチューブ熱交換器、熱交換器ジャケットの中心に40本のチューブを備える。

Claims (7)
- ポリマー分散物(当該分散物は水性エマルジョンポリマーと揮発性有機化合物を含む)および蒸気を提供すること;
ポリマー分散物および蒸気をストリッパに供給すること;
揮発性有機化合物の少なくとも一部分を分散物から除去すること;
揮発性有機化合物の部分を蒸気に移送すること;および
セパレータ容器中で蒸気を水性エマルジョンポリマーから分離すること:
を含み、
ストリッパが、
(a)少なくとも10:1 l/mの表面積対容積の比を有し;および
(b)1個以上の並列または直列の熱交換器を含んでなり、熱交換器がシェルアンドチューブまたは螺旋状熱交換器である:
揮発性物質を有するポリマー分散物を連続的にストリッピングする方法。 - ストリッパが単一通路シェルアンドチューブ熱交換器である請求項1に記載の方法。
- ポリマー分散物および蒸気の速度がストリッパ内で少なくとも30m/sである請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- ストリッパ内のチューブの外部に熱を加えることをさらに含む請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- 真空の水蒸気温度よりも高い温度でポリマー分散物が供給される請求項1に記載の方法。
- 真空の圧力が2700〜27,000Paである請求項1に記載の方法。
- セパレータ容器がジャケット、コイル、または外部熱交換器を含む請求項1に記載の方法。
