レンズ組成物に使用する染料の熱安定性は、自動車用途では、適切には300℃超、好ましくは320℃、さらに好ましくは350℃である。他の用途では、レンズと共に用いられるランプの加熱特性に応じて、これよりも低い又は高い温度が必要とされることもある。顔料、特に無機顔料ではなく有機染料を使用するのが重要である。その理由は、顔料は光を散乱させる傾向があり、したがって成形レンズのヘイズを増大させるからである。ポリカーボネート組成物に完全に溶解するか、又は光を大いに散乱させない粒子中に分散する顔料は、非常に少ない使用量で許容することができる。
ハロゲンランプは、気密封止型光透過性外囲器、及びその外囲器の中のタングステンフィラメントを含む。混合物が、外囲器内に配置されている。混合物は、不活性ガス、ハロゲン含有化合物、及び酸素をゲッタリングすることができる化合物を含む。付勢すると、可視波長域の光が、外囲器内の放射タングステンフィラメントによって発生する。
高輝度ハロゲン光源は、通常はダブルエンドタングステンハロゲンIRランプである。シングルエンドランプを始めとする他のタングステンハロゲンIRランプを使用することもできる。ランプは、高温アルミノケイ酸ガラス、石英、又は他の透明材料から形成された管状光透過性外囲器を有する。タングステンフィラメント又はコイルは、慣例のシールを貫通して延伸するモリブデンから形成された導入線によって外囲器内に支持されている。導入線は、ダブルエンドランプの場合、外囲器の両端から延伸し、或いはシングルエンドランプの場合、外囲器の同じ端から延伸することができる。望むなら、モリブデン導入線を、溶接、ろう接、又は他の適切な手段によって、同程度以上の直径の高価でない金属に接続して、フィラメントを電気接続し、さらにランプを支持することができる。導入線は、ランプを付勢するためランプの基部を経由して電源(図示せず)に電気接続する。
高輝度ガス放電ランプは、気密封止光透過性外囲器、及びその外囲器の中のタングステン電極を含む。混合物が、外囲器内に配置されている。混合物は、不活性ガス、貴ガス、金属塩、中でも希土類塩を含み、水銀、及びハロゲン含有化合物も含むことができる。付勢すると、外囲器内の放射体の気体によって可視波長域の光を発光する。他のガス放電ランプを使用することもできる。
発光ダイオード(LED)は、印加電圧の結果、順方向電流が流れると可視光が生成するn−p半導体接合を含む不可分なディスクリート光源ユニットである。他の固体光源も使用することができる。
本発明用の広範囲の光透過性特性を作製する能力を示すために、下記の表1(単位:重量部)に示すポリカーボネート配合物(B)〜(E)を設計した。標準的なLexan(登録商標)LS−2ポリカーボネートの押出条件を用いてコンパウンドする段階のため、二軸押出機を使用した。自動車照明、特に自動車ヘッドランプに使用する標準的なポリカーボネート製品(LEXAN(登録商標)LS2−111)を比較として選択した。各配合物について、技術データシートにその材料向けに定義された標準処理条件に従って、高光沢仕上(寸法:10.16cm×7.62cm×3.0mm)の装飾用プレートを成形した。
自動車で路上使用する場合の着色レンズ適用の実現可能性を試験するために、本発明による自動車ヘッドランプをビーム色及び測光について試験した。予め仕様書で説明されたように、自動車製造者によって取り付けられた自動車ヘッドランプはすべて、許容可能なビームパターンを生成し、ヘッドランプ色規制を満たす必要がある。
下記に記載するポリカーボネート配合物(F)(注:これは、2002年5月13日出願の米国特許出願第10/063791号の結果の欄に記載された配合(D)と同じである)は、外部レンズ用の広範な視覚効果色を生じる能力を示すと定義される。標準的なLexan(登録商標)LS−2ポリカーボネートの押出条件を用いてコンパウンドする段階のため、二軸押出機を使用した。各配合物について、カラーチップ(5.08cm×7.62cm×3.2mm)を成形し、チップについてMacBeth 7000A分光光度計を使用して、C光源2度視野を選択して透過モードで色座標を測定した。
Claims (15)
- 自動車ヘッドランプであって、
光源を収納するハウジング(22)と、
ハウジング(22)に収納された光源(26)と、
ハウジング(22)に固定され、ハウジング(22)に収納された光源(26)からの光がレンズ(23)を通過するように配置されたレンズ(23)とを含み、
レンズ(23)が、ポリカーボネート及びフォトルミネッセンス材料を含み、ヘッドランプが自動車ヘッドランプ用のビーム測光及びビーム色度要件を遵守し、
光源(26)、及びレンズ(23)の材料は、光源から発せられる光(26)がレンズを通過するとき、ヘッドランプからの照明用ビームの平均x色度座標が0.345〜0.405になるように色度が修正されるように選択されるヘッドランプ。 - フォトルミネッセンス材料が有機蛍光染料を含む、請求項1記載のヘッドランプ。
- レンズ(23)がさらに非蛍光染料を含む、請求項1又は請求項2記載のヘッドランプ。
- 蛍光染料が蛍光染料の0.0001〜1重量%の濃度で含まれ、非蛍光染料が非蛍光染料の0.00001〜0.1重量%の濃度で含まれる、請求項3記載のヘッドランプ。
- 蛍光染料が蛍光染料の0.005〜0.5重量%の濃度で含まれ、非蛍光染料が非蛍光染料の0.0001〜0.01重量%の濃度で含まれる、請求項3記載のヘッドランプ。
- 蛍光染料がペリレン誘導体、アントラセン誘導体、ベンゾオキサゾール誘導体、スチルベン誘導体、インジゴイド及びチオインジゴイド誘導体、イミダゾール誘導体、ナフタルイミド誘導体、キサンテン、チオキサンテン、クマリン、ローダミン、(2,5−ビス[5−tert−ブチル−2−ベンゾオキサゾリル]チオフェン)、並びにその誘導体又は組合せからなる群から選択される、請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか1項記載のヘッドランプ。
- 光源(26)が

光源(26)が低ビーム出力及び高ビーム出力を有し、
低ビーム出力が980ルーメン以上であり、高ビーム出力が1180ルーメン以上であり、
