Abstract
【解決手段】本発明による液晶表示装置はお互いに対向するように配置されている上部基板及び下部基板と、前記上部基板及び下部基板の間に形成された液晶層と、前記下部基板上の画素領域にお互いに平行に形成された共通電極及び画素電極、前記上部基板及び下部基板の間に位置するポリマー壁を含む。本発明による液晶表示装置の製造方法は上部及び下部基板を提供する段階と、下部基板上にお互いに平行に配置される共通電極及び画素電極を形成する段階と、前記上部及び下部基板を合着して、液晶層を形成する段階と、上部及び下部基板の間にポリマー壁を形成する段階を含む。

Claims (20)
- お互いに対向するように配置されている上部基板及び下部基板と、
前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に形成された液晶層と、
前記下部基板上の画素領域にお互いに平行に形成された共通電極及び画素電極と、
前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に位置するポリマー壁を含む液晶表示装置。 - 前記下部基板上に交差配置されて前記画素領域を定義するゲートライン及びデータラインと、
前記ゲートライン及び前記データラインの交差部位に形成された薄膜トランジスタと、をさらに含む請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶層の誘電異方性は正の値を持つことを特徴とする、請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶層を成す液晶分子の長軸方向は前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の面に水平に配向されることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記ポリマー壁は、前記ゲートラインについて形成されたことを特徴とする、請求項2記載の液晶表示装置。
- 隣接する二つのポリマー壁の間の距離は、250μm以上350μm以下の請求項2記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記共通電極及び前記画素電極は、少なくとも一度折られて形成された請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- お互いに対向するように配置されている上部基板及び下部基板と、
前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に形成された液晶層と、
前記下部基板上に交差配置されて画素領域を定義するゲートライン及びデータラインと、前記ゲートライン及び前記データラインの交差部位に形成された薄膜トランジスタと前記画素領域上にお互いに平行に形成された共通電極及び画素電極と、
前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に位置して、前記ゲートラインに付いて形成された第1ポリマー壁と、
前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に位置して、前記画素領域上に前記ゲートラインと平行になるように形成された第2ポリマー壁と、
を含む液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶層の誘電異方性は正の値を持つことを特徴とする、請求項8記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1ポリマー壁の誘電率と前記第2ポリマー壁の誘電率は互いに異なる値であって、
前記液晶層の長軸方向誘電率は前記第1ポリマー壁の誘電率と前記第2ポリマー壁の誘電率の間の値を持つことを特徴とする、請求項8記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記共通電極及び前記画素電極は、少なくとも一度折られて形成された請求項8記載の液晶表示装置。
- 上部基板及び下部基板を提供する段階と、
前記下部基板上にお互いに交差配置されて画素領域を定義するゲートライン及びデータライン、交差部位の薄膜トランジスタ、前記画素領域上に互いに平行に配置される共通電極及び画素電極を形成する段階と、
前記上部基板及び下部基板を合着して、前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に液晶層を形成する段階と、
前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に位置するポリマー壁を形成する段階と、
を含む液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記ポリマー壁は、前記ゲートラインに付いて配置されることを特徴とする、請求項12記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 液晶とモノマーを混合して前記液晶層を形成した後、紫外線を照射して前記ポリマー壁を形成することを特徴とする、請求項12記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記液晶層の誘電異方性は正の値を持つことを特徴とする、請求項12記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 隣接する二つのポリマー壁の間の距離は、250μm以上350μm以下になるようにする請求項12記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 上部基板及び下部基板を提供する段階と、
前記下部基板上にお互いに交差配置されて画素領域を定義するゲートライン及びデータライン、交差部位の薄膜トランジスタ、前記画素領域上にお互いに平行に配置される共通電極及び画素電極を形成する段階と、
前記上部基板及び前記下部基板を合着して、前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に液晶層を形成する段階と、
前記上部基板及び前記下部基板の間に前記ゲートラインに付いて配置される第1ポリマー壁、前記画素領域上に前記ゲートラインと平行になるように配置される第2ポリマー壁を形成する段階と、
を含む液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 液晶とモノマーを混合して前記液晶層を形成した後、紫外線を照射して前記ポリマー壁を形成する請求項17記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記液晶層の誘電異方性は正の値を持つことを特徴とする、請求項17記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記第1ポリマー壁の誘電率と前記第2ポリマー壁の誘電率はお互いに異なる値を持って、
前記液晶層の長軸方向誘電率は前記第1ポリマー壁の誘電率と前記第2ポリマー壁の誘電率の間の値であることを特徴とする、請求項17記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
