Abstract
Description
本発明は、インサイチュで変化し得る光学パラメータを有する眼内レンズ(「IOL」)に関連する。より好ましくは、本発明は、白内障患者のための嚢内移植のためのIOLの用途を有し、ここで、眼内の毛様体筋によって適用される力は、IOLの内側の範囲内の液体媒体の動きを誘導し、それにより、レンズの光学倍率を変化して、調節を提供する。
白内障は、世界中で、盲の主要な原因であり、かつ最も一般的な眼の疾患である。白内障に由来する視覚障害は、一年に800万を超える来院に及ぶ。白内障に由来する障害が、個人の日常生活の活動に影響を及ぼすかまたは変化させる場合、眼内レンズ(IOL)移植を伴う外科的レンズ除去は、機能的限定を処置する好ましい方法である。米国では、毎年約250万の白内障外科手術が実施され、65歳を超える年齢の米国人にとって最も一般的な外科手術となっている。白内障患者の約97%が、眼内レンズ移植を受けており、米国における白内障手術および関連する看護のための年間費用は、40億ドル以上である。
上記の視点から、適切な光学集束力作用をヒトの眼に対して回復する装置および方法を提供することが、本発明の目的である。
本発明は、眼内レンズ系のインサイチュ調節に関する。本発明の原則に従って、レンズが、ハウジング内部を2以上の液体を満たしたチャンバに分離する物質およびアクチュエーターを含む光学要素を有する、方法および装置が提供される。液体を満たしたチャンバは、同一または異なった屈折率を有し得る。レンズの光学倍率は、チャンバ内のそれぞれの液体の量を変え、それにより、チャンバの1つの凸および光学要素を通る光の屈折経路を変えることにより、変えられる。
Claims (24)
- 眼内レンズであって、以下:
ハウジング;
該ハウジングを第1のチャンバおよび第2のチャンバに分離するための、該ハウジング内に配置されたアクチュエーター;
該第1のチャンバ内に含まれる第1の屈折率を有する、第1容量の第1の流体;
該第2のチャンバ内に含まれる第2の屈折率を有する、第2容量の第2の流体;
および
該レンズの光学倍率を変更するために、該第2の容量に対して該第1の容量を変更させるための、該アクチュエーターに連結される手段、
を備える、眼内レンズ。 - 請求項1に記載の眼内レンズであって、ここで、アクチュエーターが、可撓性透明層を備える、眼内レンズ。
