Abstract
発光ダイオードチップから発生した光を一定の出射角度で外部へ出射するための発光ダイオードレンズ及びこのレンズを備えたバックライトモジュールに関するものである。
【解決手段】
上記発光ダイオードレンズは、対称となる一対の半折部が基準線に沿って互いに連結され、上記基準線付近で幅が減少する平坦な底面;上記基準線の両端に連結された上記底面の両辺から略半円形状で上向きに延長される一対の反射面;及び、上記底面の残りの縁端らと上記反射面らの半円形縁端とに連結された出射面を含む。上記反射面は上記底面を通して入射した光を上記出射面側へ反射し、上記出射面は上記反射面から反射され入射した光と上記底面から直接入射した光を外部へ出射する。

Description
図3ないし図8は本発明の第1実施例による発光ダイオードレンズの構造を示す。これら図において、図3は本発明の第1実施例による発光ダイオードレンズの斜視図で、図4は図3の発光ダイオードレンズの平面図で、図5は図3の発光ダイオードレンズの側面図で、図6は図3の発光ダイオードレンズの正面図で、図7は図3の発光ダイオードレンズの底面図で、図8は図3のA-A線に沿って切断した断面図である。
この際、反射面(110)は少なくとも第1連結点(a)と第2連結点(b)間の部分(以下「反射面第1部分」という)が点光源の発光ダイオードチップ(120)から放出される光線(L)を内部全反射させるよう構成される。第1連結点(a)と第2連結点(b)間の反射面(110)の形状はレンズ(100)の屈折率と(通常は空気である)外部の屈折率との関係により定められる。一方、第2連結点(b)と第3連結点(c)間の反射面(110)の一部(以下「反射面第2部分」という)は光線(L)を必ず全反射させる必要は無く、必要に応じて光線(L)を所定の角度で光軸(AO)側へ屈折させ出射してもよい。
図15ないし図20は本発明の第2実施例による発光ダイオードレンズの構造を示す。これら図において、図15は本発明の第2実施例による発光ダイオードレンズの斜視図で、図16は図15の発光ダイオードレンズの平面図で、図17は図15の発光ダイオードレンズの正面図で、図18は図15の発光ダイオードレンズの側面図で、図19は図15の発光ダイオードレンズの底面図で、図20は図15のII-II線に沿って切断した断面図である。
図20の断面(S)は直線から成る底辺(A)、この底辺(A)の両端から対向した形状で上向きに延長された一対の膨らんだ円弧形状の第1側辺(B1)、これら第1側辺(B1)から直線で上向きに延長された一対の第2側辺(B2)、これら第2側辺(B2)の上端から内側に直線で延長された一対の第1上辺(C1)、これら第1上辺(C1)の内側端部から直線で下向きに延長された一対の第2上辺(C2)及びこれら第2上辺(C2)の下端を相互連結する膨らんだ円弧形状の第3上辺(C3)から成る。一方、説明の便宜上底辺(A)と第1側辺(B1)との頂点aを第1連結点(a)、第1側辺(B1)と第2側辺(B2)との頂点bを第2連結点(b)、第2側辺(B2)と第1上辺(C1)との頂点cを第3連結点(c)、第1上辺(C1)と第2上辺(C2)との頂点dを第4連結点(d)、そして第2上辺(C2)と第3上辺(C3)との頂点eを第5連結点(e)とする。

Claims (15)
- 発光ダイオードチップから放出された光を所定の指向角に応じて外部へ出射するための発光ダイオードレンズにおいて、
対称となる一対の半折部が基準線に沿って互いに連結され、上記基準線付近で幅が減少する平坦な底面;
上記基準線の両端に連結された上記底面の両辺から略半円形状で上向きに延長される一対の反射面;及び
上記底面の残りの縁端らと上記反射面らの半円形縁端に連結された出射面を含み、
上記反射面は上記底面を通して入射した光を上記出射面側へ反射し、
上記出射面は上記反射面から反射され入射した光と上記底面から直接入射した光を外部へ出射する発光ダイオードレンズ。 - 上記反射面は曲面から成ることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 上記反射面は上記底面に連結された曲面と上記出射面に連結された平面を夫々含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 上記一対の反射面は互いに対称であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 上記一対の反射面は互いに非対称であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 上記反射面中少なくとも一つは上記基準線の端部から半折漏斗形状で延長されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 上記出射面は凹んだ曲線から成る断面形状を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 上記出射面は上記反射面に連結された一対の第1直線部、上記第1直線部において所定の角度で互いに対向するよう上記基準線側へ延長された一対の第2直線部、及び上記第2直線部に連結され膨らんだ曲線部から成る断面形状を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 上記第2直線部と曲線部間に直線の連結部が形成されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載のレンズ。
- 上記第2直線部と曲線部間に曲線の連結部が形成されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載のレンズ。
- 第2直線部は上記基準線に対して略平行であることを特徴とする請求項8に記載のレンズ。
- 第2直線部は上記基準線に対して所定の角度で傾斜することを特徴とする請求項7に記載のレンズ。
- 上記底面は上記基準線付近で幅が減少し縮頚部を形成し、上記縮頚部の両端は直線であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 上記底面は上記基準線付近で幅が減少して縮頚部を形成し、上記縮頚部の両端は曲線であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 液晶表示装置の背面においてLCDパネルに垂直方向に光を照射するバックライトモジュールにおいて、
略長方形の、上記LCDパネル側が開放されたハウジング;
上記ハウジング内において高さ方向へ緩やかに上向き傾斜となった反射板;及び、
上記ハウジングを横切って延長されその高さ方向へ上記反射板上に設けられた基板と、この基板の両側に付着された第1項ないし第14項中いずれかに記載の発光ダイオードレンズを備える発光ダイオードアレーを含むバックライトモジュール。
