Abstract
Description
図1に、実施の形態1に係る表示装置1の分解斜視図を示す。図1の例によれば、表示装置1は表示パネル2と面状光源装置3とを含んでいる。ここでは表示パネル2として液晶パネルを例示する。かかる例に鑑み、以下では、表示パネル2を液晶パネル2と呼び、表示装置1を液晶表示装置1と呼び、面状表示装置3をバックライト装置3と呼ぶ場合もある。なお、液晶表示装置1として、額縁領域が狭小化された薄型の表示装置を想定するが、液晶表示装置1はこの例に限定されるものではない。
図10に実施の形態2に係る点光源74の断面図を示し、図10にxy座標を当てはめた図を図11に示す。なお、図10および図11は図5および図6に対応する。実施の形態2に係る点光源74と、実施の形態1に係る点光源14とは、外囲器23の形状が異なる。点光源74のその他の構成は基本的に点光源14と同じである。なお、点光源74はバックライト装置3(図2参照)に適用可能であり、点光源74を搭載したバックライト装置3は液晶表示装置1(図1参照)に適用可能である。
表示パネル2は液晶パネルに限定されるものではない。例えば、文字、図形等が描かれた透明板を表示パネル2として適用可能である。また、面状光源装置3は、表示装置のバックライト装置以外の用途にも適用可能である。例えば、室内の照明装置として、面状光源装置3を利用してもよい。また、点光源14,74は、面状光源装置3以外の用途にも適用可能である。例えば、室内の照明装置として、点光源14,74を利用してもよい。
Claims (10)
- 発光素子と、
発光素子を封止する透光性の外囲器と
を備え、
前記外囲器は、
前記発光素子から見て前記発光素子の前方に突出しており前記発光素子の左側と右側とに渡っている第1の面と、
前記発光素子の左側と右側とにおいて前記第1の面に繋がっており前記発光素子に接している第2の面と、
前記第1の面の上端と前記第2の面の上端とに繋がっており前記第1の面から前記第2の面へ向けて落ち込んだ第1の窪みを形成している第3の面と、
前記第1の面の下端と前記第2の面の下端とに繋がっており前記第1の面から前記第2の面へ向けて落ち込んだ第2の窪みを形成している第4の面と
を有する点光源。 - 前記第3および第4の面は前記発光素子に頂点を向けた半円錐形状をしている、請求項1に記載の点光源。
- 前記外囲器は、前記発光素子を通り前記発光素子の上下方向に伸びる直線を回転軸とする回転形状をしている、請求項1または2に記載の点光源。
- 前記第3および第4の面は、前記発光素子と前記第1〜第4の面とを通る断面において、前記発光素子の位置を焦点とする放物線形状をしている、請求項1〜3のうちのいずれか1項に記載の点光源。
- 前記第3の面は、前記発光素子と前記第1〜第4の面とを通る断面において、前記発光素子の位置を焦点とする放物線形状を、前記発光素子の上側に移動させた第1の放物線形状をしており、
前記第4の面は、前記断面において、前記発光素子の位置を焦点とする前記放物線形状を、前記発光素子の下側に移動させた第2の放物線形状をしている、
請求項1〜3のうちのいずれか1項に記載の点光源。 - 前記第1の面は前記発光素子を中心とする球形状をしている、請求項1〜5のうちのいずれか1項に記載の点光源。
- 前記発光素子は発光ダイオードである、請求項1〜6のうちのいずれか1項に記載の点光源。
- 請求項1〜7のうちのいずれか1項に記載の点光源と、
前記点光源に側面を向けて配置された導光板と
を備える面状光源装置。 - 前記導光板の前記側面は前記点光源の前記外囲器が挿入される挿入部を有し、前記挿入部の形状は、前記点光源の前記発光素子の上下方向に直交する平面上において、前記外囲器の前記第1の面に沿った形状である、請求項8に記載の面状光源装置。
- 請求項8または9に記載の面状光源装置と、
前記面状光源装置上に配置された表示パネルと
を備える表示装置。
