Abstract
Description
・ディスプレイの温度が変化したとき、支配的な品質低下メカニズムが変化する。このケースでは、異なるカラー画素についてデューティサイクルを変更することが好ましい。温度センサをディスプレイに付加し、温度にしたがってディスプレイコントローラにおけるデューティサイクルを調整することは、このアプローチを実現する1つのやり方である。
・ディスプレイが古くなったとき、品質変化のメカニズムが変化し、これにより異なるカラー画素についてデューティサイクルを変更することが好ましくなる。このことは、それぞれのカラー画素のグループの平均の使用を決定することで、たとえば、ディスプレイに印加されているデータの全体をモニタすることで実現される。
更に別の実施の形態では、個々のカラー画素のデューティサイクル62;73;82を調整する可能性が仮定される。したがって、それぞれの画素グループR’,G’,B’は、唯一の画素を含んでいる。これは、異なる最適に機能する画素のデューティサイクル62;73;82がそれらの寿命の間に異なって変化する場合に好まれる場合がある。このケースでは、デューティサイクルを割り当てるステップは、画素がどの位古いかを判定し、次いで該画素について最適なデューティサイクルを決定するステップを含んでいる。個々の画素のデューティサイクルを調整することは必要である。これは、たとえば、図8に従って、フレームを幾つかのサブフレームに分割し、全ての利用可能なサブフレーム周期のサブセットのみについて画素を点火して、すなわちパルス幅変調の形式を適用してデューティサイクルを実現することで可能である。
Claims (16)
- 複数の画素を有するアクティブマトリクス型表示装置であって、
該画素は画素グループにグループ化され、特定のデューティサイクルでそれぞれの画素グループを駆動するための回路が設けられ、
少なくとも2つの画素グループには異なるデューティサイクルが割り当てられる、
ことを特徴とするアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 該表示装置は、有機エレクトロルミネッセント表示装置である、
請求項1記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 該画素は、それぞれの画素グループにおける画素に共通する主要な品質低下のメカニズムに従って画素グループにグループ化される、
請求項1記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 該画素は、動作の間に放出する色に従って画素グループにグループ化される、
請求項1記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - それぞれの画素グループに割り当てられる該特定のデューティサイクルは、対応する画素グループにおける画素の温度に依存する、
請求項1記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - それぞれの画素グループに割り当てられる該特定のデューティサイクルは、対応する画素グループの動作の履歴に依存する、
請求項1記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 該画素は、第一の色、第二の色及び第三の色を放出するために動作可能であり、第一のグループ、第二のグループ及び第三のグループにグループ化される、
請求項1記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - それぞれの画素グループは、それ自身の電源回路に接続され、該電源回路は、該対応する画素グループにおける画素のデューティサイクルを発生及び制御するために構成される、
請求項7記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - それぞれの画素グループには、該対応する画素グループのデューティサイクルを制御するために構成される個別のカソードが設けられる、
請求項7記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - それぞれのピクチャフレームにおいて1を超える回数で画素グループをアドレス指定するために構成される、
請求項1記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - 個別のアドレス指定の行において画素グループをアドレス指定するために構成される、
請求項10記載のアクティブマトリクス型表示装置。 - アクティブマトリクス型表示装置における画素を駆動する方法であって、
該画素を画素グループにグループ化するステップと、
特定のデューティサイクルをそれぞれの画素グループに割り当てるステップと、
その画素グループに割り当てられる特定のデューティサイクルでそれぞれの画素を駆動するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 該特定のデューティサイクルは、対応する画素グループにおける1以上の画素品質の低下を低減するように調整される、
請求項12記載の方法。 - 画素グループへの画素のグループ化では、動作的に類似の主要な品質低下のメカニズムを有する画素が同じグループにグループ化される、
請求項12記載の方法。 - それぞれの画素グループへのデューティサイクルの割り当ては、静的な割り当てであり、該デューティサイクルは、該表示装置の全体の寿命について同じである、
請求項12記載の方法。 - それぞれの画素グループへのデューティサイクルの割り当ては、動的な割り当てであって、該デューティサイクルは、該表示装置の寿命の間に変化する、
