Abstract
主としてニオブと、硬度を高めるための微量のジルコニウム、タンタルまたはチタンとの合金からなるステントの製造方法において、ステントをほぼ無酸素の環境中にて真空下でアニールする。前記の真空は、10−4ミリバール(10−2Pa)未満の圧力、酸素含有量は約80ppm未満に維持することが好ましく、アニール温度は、400℃を超える温度で少なくとも1時間、好ましくは約1100〜1200℃の範囲で数時間維持する。この後、299〜300nmの厚さを有する酸化イリジウム等の酸化物表面層をステントに形成する。
Description
本発明は、概して、患者体内の血管または管の内腔の開存状態を保つために血管または管内に植込み可能または配置可能なステント、より詳細には、ステント構造の改良に関する。
ステントは、身体の血管、管または路(例えば、バルーン血管形成術による動脈拡張後の冠動脈)に挿入され、配置されると、血管、管または路(本明細書では便宜上血管として記載する)を開存状態に保つ人工器官として機能する。ステントは、端部が開放された管状要素であり、その側壁を貫通する複数の開口部を有しているため、ステントを配置すべき目的部位まで血管内を進行できるだけの小さな第1外径から、目的部位においてステントを血管内層に対して係合することのできる大きな、展開された第2外径まで拡張することができる。
例えば、冠動脈の閉塞は、通常、血管内層に脂肪性沈着物またはプラークが堆積することによって生じる。バルーン血管形成術は、一般的な治療法であり、堆積物を血管の内層に押し付けて内腔を開存させる。あるいは、レーザ血管形成術を用いるか、または回転式切除により堆積物を微細に砕いて血流中に分散させることにより、プラークの除去を行ってもよい。従来の血管形成術では、このような処置を受けた患者の大部分において、この最初の処置に起因して血管壁に外傷が生じ、術後比較的短期間で治療を受けた血管に新たな閉塞が生じる。この血管内腔の再狭窄または再閉塞は、血管壁の外傷領域で平滑筋細胞が急速に増殖する内膜過形成によるものである。
血管を開存状態に保つために、血管形成術実施時または実施直後に、外傷部位にステントを配置することが通例となっている。例えばステントが取り付けられたバルーンカテーテルのバルーンが能動的に膨張することにより、ステントに径方向外側へ向かう力が付与されると、ステントは径方向に拡張して、展開状態となる。場合によっては、予め成形された弾性(すなわち自己拡張型)ステントの受動的なバネ特性により、展開状態となる。ステントはこのように拡張し、多少の収縮が可能な弾性のみならず、自然に起こる血管壁のリコイルにほぼ耐えるだけの剛性を備えた状態で、血管壁の内層すなわち内面に対して係合される。
しかしながら、血管内にステントが存在すると、血液が血管内を通過するにつれて血栓形成が進む傾向にあり、その結果、急性閉塞を引き起こすことがある。血栓症や血液凝固の発生を低減させること、またはなくすことは、この目的を十分に達成できるだけの、ステントの適切な表面特性により可能となる。血管の内層に接触する、すなわち血管の内層に対して係合されるステント外面においては、組織の炎症により、過形成に起因する再狭窄が加速されることがある。
ステントおよびステント材料の選択に影響を与える別の要因は、ステント留置術を受けた患者の統計的に有意な割合に見られる、一般的なステント材料に対するアレルギー反応である。これらの材料には、クロム、ニッケル、約16%のニッケルを含有する医療用316Lステンレススチールが含まれる。一般的なステント材料に対してアレルギー反応を起こす患者については、アレルギー反応のため、ステント植込みが禁忌とされる場合がある。十分な径方向強度を有すると思われる完全生分解性ステントが現在試験段階にあり、上記のような場合に好適であることが立証される可能性がある。
材料の選択において検討すべき別の事項としては、身体の目的部位へステントを植込む際や、ステント植込み後に植込み部位で時折検査を行うために、通常はX線透視を用いて、ステント植込みを行う医師がステントの位置を視認できる必要がある。ステントの壁は、目的部位でステントを展開した後に必ず起こる血管壁のリコイルに耐えるのみならず、X線透視装置でステントを視認可能とするに十分な、ステント材料に応じた厚さを有していなければならない。種々の材料、例えば316Lステンレススチールは、適切な機械的強度を有する。典型的なステント壁厚またはワイヤの太さは、70〜200ミクロン(またはマイクロメートル、μm)の範囲とされている。316Lスチールからなる厚さ70〜80μmのステントは、バルーン膨脹により完全に展開された状態の径に近い管腔径を維持するように、リコイルに耐えうるに十分な強度を有する。しかし、この比較的薄くて小さな金属構造は、金属のX線吸収性が低いために、透視画像においてほとんど影を形成しない。ところが、放射線不透過性とリコイルに対する耐性とを高めるためにステントの壁厚を増大させると、ステントの可撓性が低下し、狭い血管内での操作性や、展開時に十分なステント径まで拡張させるために必要なバルーン加圧量に悪影響を及ぼすとともに、バルーン破裂のリスクが増大する。
したがって、インターベンショナルな留置を成功させるために好適なステントは、比較的アレルギー反応を起こしにくく、放射線不透過性に優れ、磁気共鳴映像法(MRI)を用いた際に変形が起きず、塑性変形し得るような適切な弾性を備えた可撓性を有し、血管のリコイルに対する耐性を有し、血液(または心臓血管系以外の体内管中の他の流体もしくは物質)の流れを最も妨げにくくするに十分な薄さを有し、血管の再閉塞を回避するために生体適合性を有する、といった特徴を備えていなければならない。ステント材料およびステント設計の選択は、これらの特徴に重大な影響を与えるものである。
血管での使用の他にも、内腔を開存状態に保つためにステントを配置することのできる人体の他の管または路には、気管・気管支系、胆肝系、食道・腸系、および尿路系が含まれる。これら他の内腔でステントを利用する場合にも、前述した要件の多くが必要とされる。
冠動脈ステントの設計や構成が改良されているにもかかわらず、再狭窄は依然として問題となっている。主たる要因は、植込まれた異物を身体がすぐには受け入れられないことにある。細胞培養や動物実験による基礎研究によって、異物の内皮化度が再狭窄量を決定することが実証されている。当業者や研究者の間では、表面を高度に研磨し、平滑にすることは、ステント血栓症の防止および内皮化の促進に有益であるとの仮説があったが、実験はこれが完全に正しいとは言えないことを示している。
電解研磨したステントの臨床成功率が高くないことの大きな原因は、ステントストラット等の異物を血管壁内に包み込もうとする平滑筋細胞が、異物を被覆するために、より増殖の度合いを高くする必要があることにある。高圧および高剪断応力を生む血液の連続流は、冠動脈等のステントが留置された血管の中膜および外膜細胞から増殖する平滑筋細胞の遊走を妨げる。いくぶん粗い表面は平滑筋細胞による被覆を大幅に促進し、ステント植込みから10〜14日経過後においてさえ、機能性を有する内皮層を形成することが明らかにされている。単層の内皮細胞は、新生内膜を密封することにより、異物を単に被覆するのみならず、細胞の増殖を促進・増進する刺激を防止することが判明している。
ステントストラットが細くなるほど、ステントを留置した血管内腔の閉塞率は低くなる。さらに、ステントが薄いと、新生内皮の増殖によってより被覆されやすい。したがって、ステント壁を実用上可能な限り薄くすることが望ましい。しかし、例えば、厚さが60μm未満のステンレススチールは、このような薄い金属管によるX線の吸収量が限られるため、X線透視下での視認性が極めて悪い。
植込み可能な医療用316Lステンレススチールからなるステントのコア材料に好適な接着性材料層を加えることにより、幾分の改良が達成されている。層の材料には、金や特定の他の貴金属、例えばプラチナが含まれる。通常、このような材料はステンレススチールよりはるかに高い放射線不透過性を示すため、ステントが血管内腔を所望の展開部位に向けて進行させられるときや、ステントの展開後において、透視下でのステントの視認性が高い。また、これらの材料は、アレルギー反応や血栓の形成をほとんど引き起こさない。このようなコーティングは極めて薄い層とすることができるため、ステントの壁厚の決定においては、ほとんど機械的強度を考慮するのみでよい。しかしながら、コーティングを施す場合、均質の上層の亀裂や欠損を回避するためにステントの下層金属に完全に接着されていること、かつ、ステント挿入時、特に動脈における目的部位の最終配置位置でステントを展開してステント径が拡大するときに、層の剥離または一部剥離に対する耐性が十分にあることが必要であり、これらの目的は容易には達成できない。
金またはプラチナ等の貴金属は、機械的強度が低いという不都合な点があるため、ヒト血管系において単独で使用するには不適当であるが、この不都合な点は、貴金属よりかなり良好な機械的特性を有するステンレススチール等の材料からなるコアを用いることにより解消する。しかし、表面コーティングに亀裂または関連して起こる欠損が存在すると、ガルバニック電位を発生させることがあり、このような場合には、最終的には下層のスチール、すなわちより劣った金属(lesser metal)を腐蝕させることとなり、体内に永久に植込むことを意図された用具には許容されない状況となりうる。したがって、製造には、高度の品質管理と同時に高いコストが必要とされる。
ステントには、代替層または追加層も用いられてきた。例えば、本願の出願人に付与された特許文献1は、3つの基層、すなわち、優れた機械的強度を付与する卑金属からなる第1下層と、透視下での高い視認性を付与する第2中間層(好ましくは、貴金属またはその合金からなる層)と、特に有益な生体適合性材料(好ましくは、酸化イリジウムまたは硝酸チタン等のセラミック様材料)からなる上層とを有するステント構造を開示している。貴金属の元素または合金からなる中間層は、堅固に被覆するために、連続的であるとともに高い接着性を有し、かつ厚みがほぼ均一である。このような中間層は、連続した中間貴金属層がなければ亀裂が存在するかも知れない個所で卑金属を覆うセラミック様金属層によって得られるような状態を含めた、より劣る卑金属を腐蝕させ得るガルバニック電位の発生を確実に回避する傾向がある。特許文献1の3層ステントは、機械的強度、物理的に小さな寸法、視認性の向上、長期安定性、および再狭窄発生率を低くする迅速な内皮化を可能にする高い生体適合性を有する表面といった特性を示す。
例えば、本一部継続出願の親出願である特許文献2は、血管内を進行可能な第1の径から血管内で展開される、第1の径よりも大きな第2の径まで拡張するように構成されたステントを開示しており、このステントは、上述した所望される特性をすべて有する材料からなるが、追加層を必要としない単一の均質構造となるように製造することができる。ステント材料は、ニオブ、好ましくは、組合わせて硬度を高めるために加えられる十分量、典型的には5重量%未満のジルコニウムが添加されたニオブである。このように、ステントは、比較的低コストで単一の管片から製造することができるが、アレルギー反応を起こさないこと、適切かつ優れた放射線不透過性(ステンレススチールの2倍の密度)を有すること、MRIを用いたときに変形を起こさないこと、可撓性に優れていること、塑性変形し得るに十分な弾性を備えていること、脆性がないこと、血管のリコイルに対して耐性を有する十分な強度を備えること、血流に対する障害を最小限とするに十分な薄さを備えること、および高い生体適合性を有すること、といった望ましい特徴をすべて有する。ニオブ/ジルコニウム材料は、表面を酸化させるために陽極酸化処理がなされる。この材料は、例えば、アニーリング、角をとるための電解研磨等の後処理により、容易に加工可能である。
ステント展開後の急性期の再狭窄または血栓症により起こる閉塞を防ぐために、生体適合性がより高い層を蒸着する等、ステント表面に別の改変を行ったり、他の物質もしくは薬剤をステント表面に塗布してもよい。例えば、イリジウムや酸化イリジウム、硝酸チタン、または例えば特許文献3に記載されるような組成物を塗布することができる。
ステントは、(例えば、特許文献4に開示されているように)熱および圧力により微小球を燒結する処理から形成され、費用のかかる製造工程および制御工程が回避される。

本出願人は、主としてニオブと、微量(例えば、5重量%未満、好ましくは約1重量%)の、好ましくはジルコニウム、あるいはタンタルもしくはチタン、または米国特許第5,472,794号明細書および同第5,679,815号明細書に記載されるような添加物との合金からなるステントが、完成したステントを製造後にほぼ無酸素雰囲気下にアニールすると、例えば脆性および血栓形成を回避する等、構造的に大幅に改良された性能を示すことを見出した。アニールは、O2が約80ppm(質量百万分率)未満で、10−4〜10−6ミリバール(mbar)(約10−2〜10−4Pa)の圧力、好ましくは10−5mbar(約10−3Pa)以下の真空圧の極限真空環境中、400℃を超える、好ましくは約1200℃のアニール温度で、数時間、公称1時間を超える時間で行う。ステント材料のO2およびH2含有量は低レベルに維持する必要がある。

アニール後の工程として、陽極酸化またはスパッタリングにより、例えばおよそ200〜300ナノメートル(nm)の厚さの酸化イリジウム等の酸化物からなる表層を形成してもよい。材料の酸素含有量は、O2を収集するタンタル箔でステントを包んで指定限界範囲内に維持する。
本発明の上記およびさらなる目標、目的、特徴、態様および付随利点は、特定の好ましい実施形態およびその製造方法について言及した、本発明の現在考えられる最良の実施態様についての以下の詳細な説明とともに、唯一の図面を参照することにより、当業者には明らかになるであろう。
(本発明の実施に最良な態様の詳細な説明)
唯一の図面は、自己支持型の中空管構造の形態をなすステント10の斜視図(実寸ではない)であり、このステント10は、主としてニオブ(Nb)と、例えば微量のジルコニウム(Zr)、チタン(Ti)またはタンタル(Ta)、好ましくはジルコニウムとからなり、微量とは、好ましくは5%未満、より好ましくは約1%であり、残りはニオブである。微量金属を添加すると、意図する機能に関してステントの物理的特性が改良される。通常、本願出願人が使用したステント材料も、ごくわずかな量のタンタル〔Ta、1グラム当たり180マイクログラム(μg/g)〕、鉄(Fe、<20μg/g)、シリコン(Si、約<μg/g)、タングステン(W、<20μg/g)、ニッケル(Ni、<20μg/g)、モリブデン(Mo、<20μg/g)、ハフニウム(Hf、<20μg/g)、炭素(C、約7μg/g)、および窒素(N、約53μg/g)に加えて、主として加工中に導入される微量の水素(H)および酸素(O)を含有する。
唯一の図面は、自己支持型の中空管構造の形態をなすステント10の斜視図(実寸ではない)であり、このステント10は、主としてニオブ(Nb)と、例えば微量のジルコニウム(Zr)、チタン(Ti)またはタンタル(Ta)、好ましくはジルコニウムとからなり、微量とは、好ましくは5%未満、より好ましくは約1%であり、残りはニオブである。微量金属を添加すると、意図する機能に関してステントの物理的特性が改良される。通常、本願出願人が使用したステント材料も、ごくわずかな量のタンタル〔Ta、1グラム当たり180マイクログラム(μg/g)〕、鉄(Fe、<20μg/g)、シリコン(Si、約<μg/g)、タングステン(W、<20μg/g)、ニッケル(Ni、<20μg/g)、モリブデン(Mo、<20μg/g)、ハフニウム(Hf、<20μg/g)、炭素(C、約7μg/g)、および窒素(N、約53μg/g)に加えて、主として加工中に導入される微量の水素(H)および酸素(O)を含有する。
これらの微量元素成分のうち、重要な値はO2およびH2の値である。これらの元素はいずれも、含有量が多すぎると、ステント材料の脆性を劇的に高める傾向がある。本願出願人の方法による化学的な仕上げ処理工程(H2源)および真空アニーリング工程(O2源)は、脆性を抑制するためにHの値を10ppm未満に、またO含有量を約35μg/g未満にするためにOの値を80ppm未満に維持するように意図的に設定されている。
好ましいステント製造法は、以下の一連の工程で実施される:(1)Nb−1%Zrインゴットから管状体を加工する工程;(2)管状体をレーザ切断する工程;(3)機械的・化学的に仕上げを行う工程;(4)電解研磨工程;(5)真空アニーリング工程;および(6)表面コーティング(好ましくは酸化イリジウム)による陽極酸化またはスパッタリング工程。真空アニーリングの前に酸化イリジウム(「Irox」)を陽極酸化またはスパッタリングすると、コア材料中のO2量が増大するため、Iroxはアニーリング後に加えるのが好ましく、また、本明細書で説明する技術により、過剰に酸素を含有することが回避される。
レーザ切断加工では、管状ステント部材は、側壁15を貫通する多数の貫通孔、すなわち開口部12が設けられ、この開口部12は、複数のストラット、すなわちリンク13で仕切られ、画定される。このため、ステントを人体の血管、管または路の目的部位において展開させるときに、ステント径を拡大することが可能となる。開口部12は、従来型レーザの細いレーザビームを用いて、プログラム可能なパターンに従い、側壁が格子状になるように精密に切り抜いて形成することができる。それまで開口部12を塞いでいた除去された材料は、切り出し後に廃棄される。
例えば、得られた格子状側壁15のパターンは、主に管状体11の長手軸線16にほぼ平行な配向を得るために最適な相互連結ストラット13からなる網状構造であり、ストラットはいずれも長手軸線16に対して垂直(すなわち横切る方向)には配向されていない。このため、格子状構造中で他のストラットと相互接続されているストラットのいずれも長手軸線を横切る平面上に完全に位置するようには配向されておらず、ステントの一端から他端まで達していない。本願出願人に付与された米国特許第6,398,805号明細書に詳細が記載されているこのタイプの構造では、ステントの外面17の摩擦特性(すなわち摩擦係数)が相対的に極めて低くなるため、ステント10に、ステントを展開させる部位に向かって血管、管または路の内部を進行させやすい。ストラット13の網状構造または格子状構造により、連続的に長手方向に反復する開口部12からなる周方向に延びる列20を形成することができる。列20では、各開口部は、カイゼルひげまたは翼を広げたような形のオランダの帽子の輪郭に似た形状を有しており、円筒状要素の長さに沿って配置された周方向に延びる各柱状体からなる連続的に続く列において、高い位置の頂点と低い位置の頂点が交互にさざ波状に続くことにより、前記各開口部が画定されている。開口部は、上下逆さにして見ると、頭部の両側から角が上方に突出してから下方に向かう雄羊の頭の輪郭に似た形状を有し、各開口部は、円筒状要素の長さに沿って配置された周方向に延びる各柱状体からなる連続的な列において、浅めの谷と深めの谷が交互にさざ波状につながることにより画定される。
任意の列25において開口部12を画定するストラット21,22等の各一対のストラットは、周方向に整列した近接する高い位置の頂点26と低い位置の頂点27とを備えたさざ波状の形状が周方向に配置された形状をとっており、このさざ波形状は、頂点の片側または両側(30,31)において互いに交差(30)している。列25の周方向に整列した近接する頂点26,27の一方の側において、ストラット(またはさざ波形状)の交差点30は、隣接する列35の頂点33に対して接線方向にあり、頂点26,27の他方の側において、ストラット(またはさざ波形状)の交差点31は、隣接する列38の頂点37に対して接線方向にある。ストラット間の相互連結点40等には、ステント展開時に均整のとれた径方向へのステント拡張を促進するために、ノッチが設けられていてもよい。
ステント10を小径の(小さな外形の)搬送バルーン(図示しない)上に巻縮すると、各列の周方向に整列した近接する頂点同士が互いに近づき、ストラットで形成された格子状パターンによって頂点と湾曲部とがほぼ入れ子状に嵌め合わされると、前記近接する頂点同士が互いに嵌合する。このため、巻縮状態にあっては、確実にステントの外周が比較的小さくなる。このようなステントは、可撓性が高いため、使用時に遭遇しうる特に曲がりくねった冠動脈の丸みに対応すべく、小さな丸みを形成するために屈曲する場合でも、永久塑性変形することなく屈曲可能である。
ステント10が、展開中にバルーンの膨脹によって部分的に開いてゆくにつれ、近接する頂点同士は離間し始め、ストラットを分割する角度が開き始める。ステントが完全に拡張されて展開径に到達すると、ストラットからなる格子状構造は、近接する頂点同士が大きく離間された形状となり、ストラットの一部は、ステントの長手軸線に対して横切るように、ほぼ完全に横方向に配向される。このように複数のストラットが横方向に配向されることにより、ステントが完全に展開された状態において、ステントに安定した機械的支持力を与えることができ、ステント展開後の血管壁のリコイルに対して高い耐性を示す強固な構造が確保される。説明したステント構造の特定の構成は、極めて望ましいものではあるが、単に例示的なものに過ぎない。
ステントは応力を緩和するために、製造後に予め開放されていてもよい。予め開放すること(pre−opening)により、非膨脹状態の搭載バルーン上でステントを楽に摺動させ得るステント内径が得られ、ステントをバルーンに巻縮しやすくなる。アニーリングは、予め開放された後にステント構造を所定の時間間隔で適切な温度に加熱することにより実施することができる。
ステントのニオブ/ジルコニウム材料は、任意の従来の合金製造方法にて、1〜5重量%、好ましくは約2重量%のジルコニウムと残りの割合のニオブとを用いて製造される。例えば、この製造方法は、熱および圧力により構成金属の粒子または微小球を焼結することにより実施してもよい。強度を高めたり、他の望ましい物理的特性を得るためには、微量金属としてジルコニウムを用いずに、微量(例えば、1〜3%)のチタンまたはタンタルをニオブと合金させてもよい。他の好適な代替添加材料としては、例えば、米国特許第5,472,794号明細書および同第5,679,815号明細書に記載のものが挙げられる。この後、合金から管状体が形成され、上述したように管状体の側壁に貫通孔が設けられる。
本発明の方法態様によれば、主成分がニオブのステントは、製造後の完成構造をほぼ無酸素の雰囲気下にてアニーリングすることにより、脆性および血栓形成に対する耐性が高められた、構造的に非常に改良された性能を示す。上記の環境は、O2が約80ppm未満、約10−5〜10−6ミリバール(10−3〜10−4Pa)の圧力範囲の一種の極限真空状態にあることが好ましい。アニーリングは、400℃を超える温度、好ましくは約1100〜1200℃で、少なくとも1時間、より好ましくは数時間実施する。
ステント構造は、約85μmの壁厚を有するように製造することができ、この壁厚は、ステント展開後に自然に起こる血管壁のリコイルに耐えるに十分な機械的強度に加えて、透視下において優れた視認性を提供するが、血管内腔を大幅に塞ぐことはしない。ニオブをベースとするステントは、316Lからなる金属製ステントに見られるMRI使用時の変形が全く起こらないため、脳血管または末梢血管の非侵襲的な観察での使用において非常に有益である。
脆性を発生させる酸素が材料に影響を及ぼすことを回避するために、アニーリング後に酸化イリジウムからなる表面層を形成することが好ましい。好ましくは酸化イリジウムコーティング、あるいは硝酸チタンコーティングを施すためのステント表面の改変は、蒸着、プラズマ蒸着または他の従来の方法により行われる。このような改変を用いて、ステント表面を粗面とすることができる。あるいは、ニオブを酸化させるために表面を陽極酸化し、免疫応答および血栓形成を低下させてもよい。
本発明の態様の実施にあたり、最善の実施態様として本願出願人が用いた方法の最も重要な部分は以下の通りである:
1.ステントを10%フッ化水素(HF)酸中に1分よりも長く置き、自然酸化物層(厚さ<2nm)を溶かす。
2.酸素親和性が高いため、O2を収集するタンタル箔でNb−1%Zrからなるステントを緩く包み、望ましくない酸素含有量の増加を防ぐ。
3.包まれたステントと追加のO2収集箔を受容チャンバに入れる。
4.<10−4mbar(10−2Pa)の真空を維持しながら5時間かけて600℃に加熱する。(<10−5mbar(10−3Pa)が好ましいが、機器費用がかなり高くなることが分かっているため)
5.温度を約2時間維持する。
6.<10−4mbar(10−2Pa)の真空を維持しながら5時間かけて1120℃に加熱する。
7.設定温度をさらに3時間維持する。
8.真空を維持しながら60℃に冷却する。
9.ステントとO2収集箔を受容チャンバから取り出す。
1.ステントを10%フッ化水素(HF)酸中に1分よりも長く置き、自然酸化物層(厚さ<2nm)を溶かす。
2.酸素親和性が高いため、O2を収集するタンタル箔でNb−1%Zrからなるステントを緩く包み、望ましくない酸素含有量の増加を防ぐ。

4.<10−4mbar(10−2Pa)の真空を維持しながら5時間かけて600℃に加熱する。(<10−5mbar(10−3Pa)が好ましいが、機器費用がかなり高くなることが分かっているため)
5.温度を約2時間維持する。
6.<10−4mbar(10−2Pa)の真空を維持しながら5時間かけて1120℃に加熱する。
7.設定温度をさらに3時間維持する。
8.真空を維持しながら60℃に冷却する。
9.ステントとO2収集箔を受容チャンバから取り出す。
本発明の最善の実施態様を好ましい方法および実施形態を参照して開示したが、上記説明を考慮すれば、本発明の精神および範囲を逸脱することなく変更および改変を行うことができることは、当業者には明らかであろう。したがって、本発明は、添付の特許請求の範囲ならびに適用法の規則および原則によってのみ限定されるものとする。
Claims (18)
- 主としてニオブと、微量の合金形成および強化用の金属とからなる単一の均質な管状体からステントを製造する方法であって、ステントをアニーリングする工程をほぼ無酸素の環境中にて真空下で行う方法。
- 前記微量金属が、ジルコニウム、タンタルおよびチタンから選択され、前記微量とは、約5%未満である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記の真空は、O2が約80ppm未満であり、約10−2〜10−4Pa(約10−4〜10−6ミリバール)の圧力範囲である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記アニーリング工程を400℃を超える温度で少なくとも1時間実施する請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記アニーリングを約1100〜1200℃の温度範囲で数時間実施する請求項3に記載の方法。
- ステントを植込む身体部位の中心腔の閉鎖を妨げる材料で、ステント表面を少なくとも部分的にコーティングするアニーリング後の工程を含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記表面コーティング工程は、前記コーティング材料を蒸着またはプラズマ蒸着させることにより実施される請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記コーティング材料が酸化イリジウムである請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記コーティング材料が硝酸チタンである請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記コーティング材料が酸化ニオブである請求項6に記載の方法。
- ステント表面を陽極酸化して前記酸化ニオブを生成することを含む請求項10に記載の方法。
- 管状をなすステントへの酸素の侵入を低減するために、真空下のステント加工中においては、ステントを酸素親和性材料で包まれた状態に維持することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 主としてニオブと微量の合金形成および強化用の追加金属とからなる単一の均質な管状体から形成されたステントであって、ステントの組成における酸素含有量は、ステント1グラム当たり約35マイクログラム未満であるステント。
- 前記微量金属が、ジルコニウム、タンタルおよびチタンから選択され、前記微量とは、約5%未満である、請求項13に記載のステント。
- 前記ステントがアニールされており、このアニーリングは、約10−2〜10−4Pa(約10−4〜10−6ミリバール)の圧力範囲のほぼ無酸素の真空環境中で実施される請求項13に記載のステント。
- ステント表面に酸化イリジウムコーティングを備えた請求項13に記載のステント。
- ステント表面に硝酸チタンコーティングを備えた請求項13に記載のステント。
- ステント表面に酸化ニオブコーティングを備えた請求項13に記載のステント。
