Abstract
【解決手段】仮想現実システムは1以上の三次元仮想空間を限定するデータベースを有する。ユーザのコンピュータはユーザの頭装着型表示装置上に選択された仮想空間の一部を表示しうる。通信ユニットは参照点に対するユーザの位置、向き、及び/又は動きに対応するデータを受信し、これを用いて仮想空間内に仮想人間を限定し、仮想人間の位置等を受信したデータに相関させる。好ましくは、ユーザへ伝送されるデータを仮想人間の視点から見た仮想空間の部分に対応させる。システムは他のユーザから受信した位置等のデータに応じてデータベース内に他の仮想人間を限定し、他のユーザへ伝送される仮想空間の部分は関連した仮想人間の視点に対応されうる。

Claims (2)
- コンピュータシステムによって実行される、3次元の仮想空間において複数のユーザが互いにやり取りすることを可能とする方法であって、
前記コンピュータシステムは、
仮想空間を表す図形データ及び前記仮想空間内で物体の動きを実現するための位置データを含む、3次元仮想空間を規定する仮想空間データを格納するデータベースと、
前記コンピュータシステムと前記各ユーザの間に通信を確立する通信手段と、
前記通信手段を介して前記各ユーザからデータを受信する手段と、
前に受信した位置データとは異なる位置データを受信したことに応じて前記データベース内の前記仮想空間データを更新する手段と、
前記データベースから取り出され前記通信手段を介して受信されたデータを処理するプロセッサであって、仮想人間を規定する手段、視覚関連空間を規定する手段、視覚優先空間を規定する手段、及び更新された位置データを通信する手段とを有するプロセッサとを有し、
前記方法は、
各ユーザに対して、前記仮想人間を規定する手段により、前記仮想空間データによって規定される仮想空間内に仮想人間を規定し、前記仮想人間は、前記通信手段を介して受信した前記ユーザの位置情報に関連する仮想空間内の位置を有する、段階と、
各ユーザに対して、前記ユーザから前記通信手段を介して受信した前記位置情報に依存して視覚関連空間を規定し、前記視覚関連空間を規定する手段により、前記少なくとも1人のユーザの関連空間は、前記仮想空間データによって規定される前記仮想空間のうちの角度な範囲を含まないよう、前記少なくとも1人のユーザの仮想人間の視点から見られた前記仮想空間データによって規定される前記仮想空間の一部によって規定される、段階と、
少なくとも特定のユーザに対して、前記視覚優先空間を規定する手段により、前記特定のユーザの視覚関連空間内に一組の視覚優先空間を規定する、段階と、
所与のユーザからの前記通信手段を介して通信される位置情報の変化に応じて、前記更新された位置データを通信する手段により、前記所与の仮想人間に関する更新された位置情報を、前記所与のユーザの仮想人間が前記他のユーザの視覚関連空間内にある場合にのみ前記通信手段を介して各ユーザへ通信させる、段階とを有し、
前記所与のユーザの仮想人間に関する前記更新された位置情報は、前記所与のユーザの仮想人間が位置する前記視覚優先度手段に依存して異なる時間間隔で前記特定のユーザへ通信される、方法。 - 前記仮想空間データは、前記ユーザによって発せられる音響を表わす音響データを更に含み、前記プロセッサは、音響関連空間を規定する手段、音響優先空間を規定する手段、音響データを組み合わせる手段、及び音響の相対的な振幅を決定する手段を更に有し、
前記方法は更に、前記プロセッサにおいて、
各ユーザに対して、前記各ユーザからの位置情報に依存する音響関連空間を規定する段階と、
少なくとも特定のユーザに対して、前記特定のユーザの音響関連空間内の一組の音響優先空間を規定する段階と、
各ユーザに対して、前記ユーザの音響関連空間内に仮想人間が位置する他のユーザのみからの音響データを組み合わせ、組み合わされた音響データを前記通信手段を介して前記各ユーザへ通信する段階と、
前記少なくとも特定のユーザに対して、各ユーザの仮想人間が位置している音響優先空間に依存して、前記組み合わせる段階において前記組み合わされた音響データから得られる前記他のユーザからの音響の相対的な振幅を決定する段階とを更に有する、請求項1記載の方法。
