Abstract
熱収縮性フィルムであっても、十分なシール強度を確保
することができる熱収縮性フィルムのシール方法を提供
する。 【解決手段】2軸延伸ポリプロピレンフィルムによって
形成されたフィルム基材の内面にコロナ放電処理を施し
た状態で、その内面全面に印刷層が形成された熱収縮性
フィルムからなる包材Rを、印刷層同士が接触するよう
に重ね合わせ、その重ね合わせ部分を、超音波発信機を
備えたホーンとアンビルローラとによって挟み込んで線
状に超音波溶着しながら、その溶着部分を幅方向に分断
するようにした。超音波溶着を行う際の振動によって、
印刷層を形成している印刷インキが線状の溶着部分の外
側に移動してフィルム基材の表面同士が接触することに
なるので、フィルム基材の表面の樹脂同士が確実に溶着
され、溶断シール部分に十分なシール強度を確保するこ
とができる。
Description
表面がポリオレフィン系樹脂によって形成された熱収縮
性フィルムのシール方法、特に、フィルム基材の表面に
印刷層が形成されている熱収縮性フィルムのシール方法
に関する。
ップ入り即席ラーメン等のカップ入り商品については、
カップ状の容器本体や容器本体の口部を閉塞するシート
状の蓋部材に予め図柄や商品名等を印刷しておき、容器
本体に内容物を収容して口部を蓋部材によって閉塞した
後、透明の熱収縮性フィルムによって形成された包材を
用いてオーバーラップ包装を施した状態で販売されてい
る。
ップ包装を施す場合は、まず、ピロー包装機等を用い
て、熱収縮性フィルムからなる長尺帯状の包材を、その
幅方向の両側縁同士を重ね合わせて溶断シールまたは合
掌貼りシールすることによって筒状に形成し、一定間隔
で供給されるカップ入り商品等を筒状に形成された包材
内に挿入した後、筒状の包材を隣接するカップ入り商品
等の間で順次溶断シールすることによって、カップ入り
商品等を包材によって包み込み、その後、包材を加熱収
縮させることによってカップ入り商品等に密着させるこ
とになる。

縮性フィルムからなる包材自体に図柄や商品名等を印刷
したほうが印刷部分がクリアに仕上がると共に、蓋部材
によって容器本体の口部を閉塞する際、容器本体の印刷
部分と蓋部材の印刷部分との位置合わせ等を考慮しなく
てもよいので、近年では、容器本体や蓋部材には印刷を
行わずに、図柄や商品名等が予め印刷された包材を用い
てオーバーラップ包装を施すことが望まれており、一部
のカップ入り商品等については、既に、図柄等が印刷さ
れた包材を用いてオーバーラップ包装が施されるように
なってきている。
熱収縮性フィルムからなる包材を用いてカップ入り商品
等にオーバーラップ包装を施す場合は、カップ入り商品
等を包み込んだ包材の内面同士を重ね合わせ、その重ね
合わせ部分を線状に熱溶着しながら、その熱溶着部分を
幅方向に分断することによって溶断シールを行ったり、
重ね合わせ部分を細かい刻み目が形成されるように所定
幅で断続的に熱溶着することで合掌貼りシールを行うこ
とになるが、図柄等を表示する印刷層は、カップ入り商
品等の流通過程等において損傷を受けないように、透明
の熱収縮性フィルムからなる包材の内面側に形成される
のが一般的であるので、印刷層部分が相互に接触するよ
うに、包材を重ね合わせた状態で溶断シールや合掌貼り
シールを行わなければならない場合がある。

ので、印刷層部分が相互に接触するように、包材を重ね
合わせた状態で溶断シールや合掌貼りシールを行うと、
フィルム基材を覆っている印刷層が障害となってフィル
ム基材表面の樹脂同士を確実に溶着することができず、
その結果、シール部分に十分なシール強度を確保するこ
とができなくなるといった問題がある。
成されている場合は、その後に行われる加熱工程におい
て、包材自体が熱収縮を起こすことになるので、溶断シ
ール部分や合掌貼りシール部分に十分なシール強度を確
保することができないと、包材の熱収縮に伴って、溶断
シール部分や合掌貼りシール部分が容易に破壊されてし
まうといった問題がある。

ら、包装されたカップ入り商品M等がそのまま視認でき
る状態となったり、合掌貼りシール部分だけが透明にな
ったりするので、デザイン上好ましいものではなかっ
た。

せ部分を線状に溶着しながら、その線状の溶着部分を幅
方向に分断するようにした熱収縮性フィルムのシール方
法において、前記熱収縮性フィルムの重ね合わせ部分を
線状に超音波溶着するようにしたのである。

に、超音波溶着法を採用したため、フィルム基材表面に
おける溶着部分に印刷層が形成されていても、超音波溶
着を行う際の振動によって、その印刷層を形成している
印刷インキが線状の溶着部分の外側に移動したり、印刷
インキが溶融した樹脂と混ざり合ったりすることで、フ
ィルム基材表面の樹脂同士が接触することになるので、
フィルム基材表面の樹脂同士が確実に溶着され、シール
部分に十分なシール強度を確保することができる。
2にかかる発明は、表面がポリオレフィン系樹脂によっ
て形成されたフィルム基材の表面に印刷層が形成されて
いる熱収縮性フィルムを、前記印刷層同士が接触するよ
うに重ね合わせ、その重ね合わせ部分を、細かい刻み目
が形成されるように所定幅で断続的に溶着するようにし
た熱収縮性フィルムのシール方法において、前記熱収縮
性フィルムの重ね合わせ部分を断続的に超音波溶着する
ようにしたのである。
ール方法では、熱収縮性フィルムの重ね合わせ部分を断
続的に超音波溶着するようにしたため、フィルム基材表
面における断続的な溶着部分に印刷層が形成されていて
も、超音波溶着を行う際の振動によって、その印刷層を
形成している印刷インキが隣接する非溶着部分に移動し
たり、印刷インキが溶融した樹脂と混ざり合ったりする
ことで、溶着部分におけるフィルム基材表面の樹脂同士
が接触することになるので、溶着部分におけるフィルム
基材表面の樹脂同士が確実に溶着され、シール部分に十
分なシール強度を確保することができる。
をよくするために、通常、フィルム基材の表面にはコロ
ナ放電処理が施されるが、このように、表面にコロナ放
電処理が施された熱収縮性フィルム同士を、従来の熱溶
着法を用いてシールを行うと、シール部分に十分なシー
ル強度を確保することができないが、請求項3にかかる
発明のシール方法のように、超音波溶着法を用いてシー
ルを行うと、シール部分に十分なシール強度を確保する
ことができる。
層を形成するための印刷インキとして、コロナ放電処理
を施していない樹脂表面用の特別な印刷インキを使用す
る必要がなく、通常の安価で印刷適性のよい印刷インキ
を使用することができるという効果が得られる。
参照して説明する。図1は、熱収縮性フィルムからなる
包材Rを用いて、カップ入り商品(以下、被包装体とい
う)Mにオーバーラップ包装を施すために、被包装体M
を包材Rによって包み込む被包装体Mの包込装置1を示
しており、この包込装置1によって、被包装体Mが包材
Rによって包み込まれた包装体RMが、図示しない加熱
部によって加熱されることで包材Rが熱収縮を起こし、
包材Rが被包装体Mに密着したオーバーラップ包装体が
形成されるようになっている。
伸ポリプロピレンフィルムによって形成されたフィルム
基材Bと、このフィルム基材Bの内表面isの全面に印
刷することによって形成された、商品名や特徴的な図柄
等を表示する印刷層Pとから構成されており、フィルム
基材Bの内表面isには、印刷層Pののりをよくするた
めに、予めコロナ放電処理が施されることで、JIS
K 6768のぬれ試験方法による表面のぬれ指数が3
8μN/cm以上になっている。
述した長尺帯状の包材Rを巻回した包材ロールRLから
包材Rを連続的に繰り出しながら、ガイドローラ11を
介して包込位置に送給する包材送給手段12と、包込位
置に送給される包材Rを筒状に整形するフォーマ13
と、このフォーマ13によって筒状に整形された包材R
の幅方向の両側縁の内面側(印刷層P側)を相互に重ね
合わせて、その重ね合わせ部分を包材Rの送出方向に沿
って溶断シールすることで、包材Rを筒状に形成する第
1の溶断シーラ20aと、筒状に形成された包材Rを一
定間隔で、包材Rの送出方向に直交する方向に順次溶断
シールする第2の溶断シーラ20bとから構成されてい
る。
送出方向におけるフォーマ13の下流側に固定設置され
ており、図2(a)、(b)に示すように、超音波発信
機22aを備えたホーン21aと、このホーン21aと
の間に、筒状に整形された包材Rの重ね合わせ部分を挟
み込む、駆動手段24aによって包材Rの送出速度と同
調して回転駆動される、包材Rとの接触部分が線状に形
成されたアンビルローラ23aとから構成されている。
従って、フォーマ13によって筒状に整形されながら送
出される包材Rは、ホーン21aとアンビルローラ23
aとに挟み込まれた、幅方向の両側縁が線状に超音波溶
着されながら、その線状の溶着部分が幅方向に分断さ
れ、包材Rが筒状に形成されるようになっている。
送出方向における第1の溶断シーラ20aの下流側に設
置されており、図1及び図3に示すように、超音波発信
機22bを備えたホーン21bと、このホーン21bと
の間に包材Rを挟み込む、包材Rとの接触部分が線状に
形成されたアンビルローラ23bと、包材Rを挟み込ん
だホーン21b及びアンビルローラ23bを包材Rの幅
方向に往復移動させる図示しない駆動手段とから構成さ
れている。従って、第1の溶断シーラ20aが溶断シー
ルすることによって、被包装体Mが挿入された状態で筒
状に形成された包材Rは、この溶断シーラー20bによ
って、挿入された被包装体Mの間で、その幅方向に線状
に超音波溶着されながら、その線状の溶着部分が幅方向
に分断され、図5(a)〜(c)に示すように、各被包
装体Mが包材Rによって包み込まれた包装体RMが形成
される。

波溶着法を採用したため、フィルム基材Bの表面におけ
る溶断シール部分に印刷層Pが形成されていても、超音
波溶着を行う際の振動によって、その印刷層Pを形成し
ている印刷インキが線状の溶着部分の外側に移動した
り、印刷インキが溶融した樹脂と混ざり合ったりするこ
とで、フィルム基材Bの表面同士が接触することになる
ので、フィルム基材Bの表面の樹脂同士が確実に溶着さ
れ、溶断シール部分に十分なシール強度を確保すること
ができる。

ーバーラップ包装を施す場合のように、溶断シール部分
を除くように印刷層が形成された熱収縮性フィルムから
なる包材を使用する必要がなく、図6(a)、(b)に
示すように、フィルム基材Bの内表面の全面に印刷層P
が形成されている熱収縮性フィルムからなる包材Rを用
いて、カップ入り商品等の被包装体Mに対してオーバー
ラップ包装を綺麗に施すことができる。

材Bに対する印刷層Pののりをよくするために、フィル
ム基材Bの表面にコロナ放電処理が施されていても、溶
断シール部分に十分なシール強度を確保することができ
る。従って、フィルム基材Bの表面に印刷層Pを形成す
るための印刷インキとして、コロナ放電処理が施されて
いない樹脂表面用の特別な印刷インキを使用する必要が
なく、通常の安価で印刷適性のよい印刷インキを使用す
ることができるので、包材Rの材料コストを抑えること
ができるという利点も得られる。

る場合について説明したが、これに限定されるものでは
なく、熱収縮性フィルムの重ね合わせ部分を、図7に示
すように、周面に細かい刻み目を施したアンビルロール
23cを用いて超音波溶着することによって合掌貼りシ
ールを行うと、溶断シールを行う場合と同様に、シール
部分に印刷層が形成されていても、十分なシール強度を
確保することができる。
リプロピレンフィルムによって形成されたフィルム基材
Bの内面に印刷層Pを形成した包材Rをシールする場合
について説明したが、これに限定されるものではなく、
本発明のシール方法は、少なくとも、表面が2軸延伸ポ
リプロピレンフィルムや2軸延伸ポリエチレンフィルム
等のポリオレフィン系樹脂によって形成された単層また
は複層のフィルム基材の内面側に印刷層を有する熱収縮
性フィルムをシールする場合に使用することができる。
商品にオーバーラップ包装を施す場合について説明した
が、本発明のシール方法は、これに限定されるものでは
なく、シール部分に印刷層が形成されている種々の熱収
縮性フィルムをシールする場合に使用することができる
ことはいうまでもない。

- 【請求項1】 表面がポリオレフィン系樹脂によって形
成されたフィルム基材の表面に印刷層が形成されている
熱収縮性フィルムを、前記印刷層同士が接触するように
重ね合わせ、その重ね合わせ部分を線状に溶着しなが
ら、その線状の溶着部分を幅方向に分断するようにした
熱収縮性フィルムのシール方法において、 前記熱収縮性フィルムの重ね合わせ部分を線状に超音波
溶着するようにしたことを特徴とする熱収縮性フィルム
のシール方法。 - 【請求項2】 表面がポリオレフィン系樹脂によって形
成されたフィルム基材の表面に印刷層が形成されている
熱収縮性フィルムを、前記印刷層同士が接触するように
重ね合わせ、その重ね合わせ部分を、細かい刻み目が形
成されるように所定幅で断続的に溶着するようにした熱
収縮性フィルムのシール方法において、前記熱収縮性フ
ィルムの重ね合わせ部分を断続的に超音波溶着するよう
にしたことを特徴とする熱収縮性フィルムのシール方
法。 - 【請求項3】 前記フィルム基材は、前記印刷層が形成
される表面にコロナ放電処理が施されている請求項1ま
たは2に記載の熱収縮性フィルムのシール方法。
