【特許請求の範囲】
【請求項１】 観察者に面した前面を有する前面反射投影スクリーンであって、
第１の偏光状態を有する光を実質的に反射し、かつ第２の偏光状態を有する光を実質的に伝搬する拡散反射性偏光要素と、
前記拡散反射性偏光要素からの鏡面反射のギラツキを抑制するギラツキ抑制要素であって、このギラツキ抑制要素が前記拡散反射性偏光要素とスクリーンの前面との間に配置されているものと、
前記反射性偏光要素を通して伝搬する光の実質的に全てを吸収するために配置された、吸収要素
を含むスクリーン。
【請求項２】 前記拡散反射性偏光要素が反射された光を異方的に拡散する、請求項１に記載の投影スクリーン。
【請求項３】 前記ギラツキ抑制要素が異方的に光を散乱する、請求項１に記載の投影スクリーン。
【請求項４】 前記反射性偏光要素が第１と第２の材料を含み、この第１と第２の材料の少なくとも一つが複屈折材であり、第１の偏光状態を有する光に対する第１と第２の材料の屈折率の差が第１の偏光状態を有する光を実質的に反射する程度に大きく、かつ第２の偏光方向を有する光に対する第１と第２の材料の屈折率の差が第２の偏光状態を有する光を実質的に伝搬する程度に小さい、請求項１に記載の投影スクリーン。
【請求項５】 前記第２の材料が偏光要素の第１の材料内に配置されている、請求項４に記載の投影スクリーン。
【請求項６】 前記第２の材料が偏光要素の第１の材料内に、第１の軸に沿って配列された延伸体を含む、請求項５に記載の投影スクリーン。
【請求項７】 拡散要素を更に含む、請求項１〜６のいずれか１項に記載の投影スクリーン。
【請求項８】 前記吸収要素が不透明である、請求項１に記載の投影スクリーン。
【請求項９】 請求項１に記載の投影スクリーンと、第１の偏光状態の光を用いて画像を投影する画像プロジェクターとを含む、投影システム。
