Description
ダイマージオールは、例えば、ダイマー脂肪酸エステルを還元することによって得られるよく知られている市販の化合物である。このようなダイマー脂肪酸エステルの基礎となるダイマー脂肪酸は、不飽和カルボン酸（一般には、オレイン酸、リノール酸、エルカ酸などの脂肪酸）をオリゴマー化することによって得ることができるカルボン酸である。このオリゴマー化は、通常、触媒、例えばアルミナの存在下、高温で行われる。得られる物質（工業用規格のダイマー脂肪酸）は、ダイマー化生成物が優勢である混合物である。しかし、少量の高次オリゴマー（特に、トリマー脂肪酸）も存在する。ダイマー脂肪酸は市販されている生成物であり、様々な組成および品質で販売されている。多数の文献をダイマー脂肪酸に関して得ることができる。例えば、下記の論文を参照できる：Fette＆Oele、26（1994）、47頁〜51頁；Speciality Chemecals、1984（5月号）、17頁、18頁、22頁〜24頁。ダイマージオールは、専門家の間ではよく知られている。例えば、特にダイマージオールの製造、構造および化学が論じられているより最近の論文を参照のできる：Fat Sci. Technol. 95（1993）、第3号、91頁〜94頁。本発明により、好ましいダイマージオールは、ダイマー含有量が少なくとも70％であり、特に90％であり、かつダイマー１分子あたりの炭素原子の数が主として36〜44の範囲にあるものである。
