Abstract
Si descrive un acciaio inossidabile supermartensitico ad elevata resistenza meccanica ed alla corrosione avente la seguente composizione C?0,05; Cr 12-15; Ni 4-7; Mo 1,5-2; H 0,06-0,12; Mn 0,5-1; Cu<0,3; P<0,02; S?50,005; Al<0,02; Si?1; il rimanente essendo ferro e impurezze minori, con l'ulteriore requisito che le percentuali di Cr, Mo ed N soddisfino alla seguente formula: (Cr + 3,3 Mo + 16 N)?19. Detto acciaio consente di ottenere manufatti aventi eccellenti caratteristiche meccaniche e di resistenza alla corrosione.

"ACCIAIO INOSSIDABILE SUPERMARTENSITICO AVENTE ELEVATA RE-SISTENZA MECCANICA ED ALLA CORROSIONE E RELATIVI MANUFATTI"
A. CAMPO DELL ' INVENZIONE
La presente invenzione si riferisce a un acciaio inossidabile supermartensitico avente un'elevata resistenza meccanica ed alla corrosione derivanti dalla sua composizione e dal trattamento termico al quale vengono sottoposti i suoi manufatti durante le loro fasi di lavorazione. L'invenzione riguarda anche il procedimentò di produzione dei manufatti, in particolare dei tubi per perforazione, produzione e trasporto nel settore degli idrocarburi.
B. TECNICA ANTERIORE
Un particolare campo di applicazione degli acciai inossidabili è quello dei tubi per perforazione, produzione e trasporto nel settore degli idrocarburi, ove è noto ricorrere a composizioni di acciai che garantiscano la necessaria resistenza meccanica e alla corrosione. Tuttavia, lo sfruttamento sempre più frequente di giacimenti di idrocarburi del tipo cosiddetto acido, o sour, per elevato contenuto di acido solfidrico e/o di anidride carbonica, spesso anche in presenza di alti contenuti di cloruri ed a temperature elevate, rende sempre più difficile la scelta di materiali idonei.
A questo riguardo, le varie compagnie petrolifere e le società di progettazione nel tentativo di prevenire al massimo gli incidenti derivanti da possibili rotture in fase di esercizio dei tubi, che causerebbero grosse perdite di produzione e danni all'ambiente, hanno fissato dei limiti molto rigorosi di resistenza meccanica ed alla corrosione dei materiali da impiegare .
Attualmente sono in commercio e vengono utilizzati acciai inossidabili, sia di tipo bifasico o autenoferritico , dove sono contemporaneamente presenti le due fasi ferritica ed austenitica in rapporti tali fra loro da impartire all'acciaio proprietà interessanti sia dal punto di vista meccanico che di resistenza alla corrosione, sia acciai monofasici di tipo austenitico, che però sono ancora più costosi stante l'elevata quantità di componenti che devono essere aggiunti alla lega base.
Anche la Richiedente, che opera da molti anni nella produzione di tubi per perforazioni, produzione e trasporto di idrocarburi, ha descritto e rivendicato nella domanda di brevetto EP 93106675.7. un acciaio di tipo super-duplex da utilizzare per manufatti impiegabili in ambienti acidi.
Un importante segmento di mercato nei tubi per perforazioni, produzione e trasporto di idrocarburi, è costituito da quello che utilizza tubi in acciai martensitici. Detti tubi sono sostanzialmente impiegati in ambienti "sweet", caratterizzati cioè da alti tenori di anidride carbonica e cloruri con assenza o presenza solo in tracce di acido solfidrico.
Gli acciai martensitici hanno un costo assai più basso degli altri acciai inossidabili ed il loro impiego incontra un crescente favore; purtroppo il loro impiego è limitato dalla sensibilità alle criccature in presenza di acido solfidrico. Per superare questa limitazione degli acciai martensitici, si sono sperimentate sia l'alligazione con quantità di cromo superiori al 13%, sia combinazioni di cromo e molibdeno, ottenendo risultati incoraggianti. Talvolta è stato anche aggiunto nichel in quantità tali da garantire l'austenitizzazione totale, necessaria per la trasformazione completa in martensite.
Nel presente testo, con l'aggettivo "supermartensitici" si indicano acciai aventi un contenuto in cromo superiore al 14% in peso, oppure una combinazione Cr/Mo nella quale il Cr è >12% ed il Mo è >1%, eventualmente con aggiunta di nichel in quantitativi superiori a 0,5%, la presenza di detti elementi metallici essendo comunque tale da garantire una trasformazione completa dell'acciaio in martensitico, dopo il raffreddamento successivo al trattamento di austenitizzazione.
Nella letteratura tecnico-brevettuale si trovano anche informazioni relative all ' influenza di altri elementi sul comportamento degli acciai inossidabili martensitici .
A titolo esemplificativo, ricordiamo il brevetto JP-A-120337/91 dove si discute l'influenza delle quantità di Mo, Mn e S in un acciaio austenitico al Ni/Cr per aumentarne la capacità di resistenza alla corrosione. In particolare è stato indicato un limite massimo di 0,5% di Mn, in quanto la presenza di questo elemento nell'acciaio riduce la capacità di resistenza alla corrosione per vaiolatura di quest'ultimo. Riducendo nell'acciaio la percentuale di Mn, occorre contemporaneamente ridurre a valori molto bassi (inferiori allo 0,002% contro il normale valore da 0,002% a 0,005% degli acciai austenitici ) il contenuto di zolfo che altrimenti influirebbe in modo negativo sulla lavorabilità a caldo dell'acciaio. Un altro elemento la cui percentuale nell'acciaio viene considerata critica è l'azoto, perché viene attribuita a quantità superiori allo 0,02% di azoto, l'aumento alla sensibilità alla rottura dell ' acciaio per corrosione da acido solfidrico.
Stante questa situazione, si comprende facilmente perché i tecnici del ramo continuino a studiare il problema nel tentativo di trovare nuovi tipi di acciaio che siano più interessanti ed utili sia come insieme di caratteristiche volute sia come costi di produzione.
C.DESCRIZIONE DETTAGLIATA DELL'INVENZIONE
La presente invenzione si basa su una intuizione degli autori, che era cioè possibile modificare la resistenza meccanica e quella alla corrosione di un acciaio di tipo supermartensitico agendo solo sulla quantità degli elementi presenti in quantità minore nella composizione, senza modificare sostanzialmente il contenuto degli elementi principali ed abbinando queste modifiche, apparentemente minori, di composizione ad un trattamento di trasformazione termo-meccanica dell'acciaio ottenuto in semilavorati e successivamente in manufatti, in particolare in tubi, utilizzando un procedimento condotto in condizioni attentamente controllate.
La Richiedente ha trovato che trattando il manufatto in acciaio supermartensitico secondo l'invenzione con il trattamento termico, anch'esso oggetto della presente invenzione, è possibile conservare la percentuale di zolfo degli acciai nei normali intervalli da 0,002% a 0,005% e la quantità di Mn a valori compresi fra 0,5% e 1%, controllando il contenuto di C a valori inferiori a 0,05% ed il contenuto di azoto fra 0,06% e 0,12%.
Il controllo rigoroso della quantità di C e di N presenti nell'acciaio permettono di mantenere più alto il contenuto di S senza compromettere la lavorabilità a caldo dell'acciaio. Un acciaio avente la composizione secondo l'invenzione è autotemprante e si trasforma in martensitico per semplice raffreddamento in aria da una temperatura superiore al punto di trasformazione austenite/ferrite. La tempra in acqua, pur non essendo necessaria, può essere naturalemnte utilizzata per ottenere la trasformazione dell'acciaio.
L’acciaio secondo l'invenzione può avere un eccellente resistenza meccanica dopo il trattamento termico di rinvenimento che induce la precipitazione di carburi di cromo, ha buona tenacità e resiste alla corrosione per vaiolatura ed alla tensocorrosione in ambienti nei quali sono presenti acido solfidrico, cloruri ed anidride carbonica, anche sotto pressione, purché sia soddisfatta l'ulteriore condizione che le percentuali di Cr, Mo ed N soddisfino la seguente formula: (Cr 3,3 Mo 16 N) >19.
In particolare i tubi, laminati o estrusi, costruiti con un acciaio secondo l’invenzione resistono alla tensocorrosione a temperature anche superiori a 150°C in ambienti contenenti acido solfidrico con pressione parziale fino a 0,50 bar e con contenuti di cloruro di sodio fino a 200 g/1, condizioni che sono più severe di quelle che si riscontrano normalmente in una grande parte dei pozzi petroliferi acidi, anche a profondità elevata.
La presente invenzione è relativa anche al procedimento di produzione di manufatti lavorati a caldo, in particolare di tubi senza saldatura.
Secondo una caratteristica fondamentale della presente invenzione, il procediménto per la produzione di manufatti in acciaio supermartensitico è caratterizzato dai seguenti stadi: (a) preparare un lingotto, o barra per colata continua, avente la seguente composizione percentuale ponderale: C ≤0,05; Cr 12-15; Ni 4-7; Mo 1,5-2; N 0,06-0,12; Mn 0,5-1; Cu <0,3; P <0,02; S <0,005; Al <0,02; Si (≤ 1; il rimanente essendo ferro e impurezze minori, con l'ulteriore requisito che le percentuali di Cr, Mo ed N soddisfino alla seguente formula: (Cr 3,3 Mo 16 N) ≥19;,
(b) eseguire una prima deformazione a caldo per fucinatura o laminazione del lingotto o della barra per ottenere un semilavorato;
(c) riscaldare detto semilavorato a una temperatura compresa tra 1.250 e 1.350 °C, deformarlo di nuovo per laminazione a caldo o per estrusione fino a ottenere un prodotto di forma e dimensioni desiderate;
(d) sottoporre il manufatto, opzionalmente dopo raffreddamento a temperatura ambiente, a trattamento termico di austenitizzazione, mantenendolo ad una temperatura compresa fra 880° e 980° C per un periodo di tempo compreso fra 15 e 90 minuti; (e) raffreddare il manufatto fino ad una temperatura inferiore a 90 "C e quindi sottoporlo a trattamento termico di rinvenimento ad una temperatura compresa fra 560° e 670°C per un tempo compreso fra i 30 ed i 300 minuti.
Le operazioni di raffreddamento degli stadi (d) ed (e) possono essere eseguite sia per raffreddamento in aria che in acqua. Gli esempi seguenti servono a meglio definire l'invenzione e ad evidenziare l'influenza del contenuto di azoto sul comportamento dell'acciaio ottenuto e trattato secondo come sopra descritto.
Esempio 1
Si preparò un lingotto di acciaio avente la seguente composizione percentuale ponderale: C 0,02; Cr 13,29; Ni 4,75; Mo 1,62; N 008; Mn 0,73; Si 0,27; P 0,014; S <0,002; il rimanente essendo ferro ed impurezze minori.
Il lingotto ottenuto fu lavorato a caldo per fucinatura fino a barre aventi un diametro pari a 280 mm. Una delle barre ottenute fu riscaldata a 1280 °C, laminata a caldo fino a formare un tubo avente diametro pari a 177,8 mm e spessore pari a 10,36 mm.
Il tubo ottenuto fu lasciato raffreddare all'aria fino a temperatura ambiente e quindi sottoposto ad austenitizzazione portandolo ad una temperatura di 920°C e mantenendolo a detta temperatura per 80 minuti, seguita da raffreddamento all'aria e successivo trattamento termico di rinvenimento ad una temperatura di 620°C, mantenendolo a detta temperatura per 40'. Il tubo così ottenuto fu sottoposto a test di corrosione e tensocorrosione secondo le norme
- ASTM G-31: prova di corrosione generale in soluzione di NaCl 200 g/1 con pressione parziale di H2S pari a 500 mbar e temperatura di 150 °C.jFu misurata una velocità media di corrosione dopo 500 ore pari a 0,056 mm/anno.
- NACE TM-01-77-90 - metodo A: in soluzione modificata NaCl 50 g/1 e acido acetico 0,5% con pressione parziale di H2S pari a 50 mbar. Fu determinata una tensione di soglia, oltre la quale si verificano cricche da tensocorrosione, pari all'85% della tensione di snervamento.
Esempio 2 (di confronto)
51 preparò un tubo in acciaio operando come descritto nell'esempio 1, salvo che si utilizzò un acciaio avente la seguente composizione: C 0,02; Cr 11,95; Ni 5,50; Mo 2,06; N 004; Mn 0,45; Si 0,!18; P 0,019; S <0,002; il rimanente essendo ferro ed impurezze minori.
Le prove di corrosione e di tensocorrosione eseguite sul tubo ottenuto in base alle norme ASTM G-31 e NACE TM-01-77-90 dettero rispettivamente un valore di corrosione pari 0,146 nun/anno e di tensione di soglia pari a 30% della tensione di snervamento.

Acciaio supermartensitico avente la seguente composizione percentuale ponderale: C ≤0,05; Cr 12-15; Ni 4-7; Mo 1,5-2; N 0,06-0,12; Mn 0,5-1; Cu <0,3; P <0,02; S <0,005; Al <0,02; Si ≤ 1; il rimanente essendo ferro e impurezze minori, con l'ulteriore requisito che le percentuali di Cr, Mo ed N soddisfino la seguente formula: (Cr 3,3 Mo 16 N) ≥19.
- 2. Procedimento per la produzione di manufatti in acciaio supermartensitico caratterizzato dai seguenti stadi: (a) preparare un lingotto, o barra per colata continua, avente la seguente composizione percentuale ponderale: C <0,05; Cr 12-15; Ni 4-7; Mo 1,5-2; N 0,06-0,12; Mn 0,5-1; Cu <0,3; P <0,02; S <0,005; Al <0,02; Si < 1; il rimanente essendo ferro e impurezze minori, con l'ulteriore requisito che le percentuali di Cr, Mo ed N soddisfino alla seguente formula: (Cr 3,3 Mo 16 N) >19; (b) eseguire una prima deformazione a caldo per fucinatura o laminazione del lingotto o della barra per ottenere un semilavorato; (c) riscaldare detto semilavorato a una temperatura compresa tra 1.250 e 1.350 °C, deformarlo di nuovo per laminazione a caldo o per estrusione fino a ottenere un prodotto di forma e dimensioni desiderate; (d) sottoporre il manufatto, opzionalmente dopo raffreddamento a temperatura ambiente, a trattamento termico di austenitizzazione, mantenendolo ad una temperatura compresa fra 880° e 980° C per un periodo di tempo compreso fra 15 e 90 minuti; (e) raffreddare il manufatto fino ad una temperatura inferiore a 90°C e quindi sottoporlo a trattamento termico di rinvenimento ad una temperatura compresa fra 560° e 670 “C per un tempo compreso fra i 30 ed i 300 minuti.
- 3. Procedimento secondo la rivendicazione 2. caratterizzato dal fatto che l'operazione di raffreddamento degli stadi (d) ed (e) viene eseguita in aria.
- 4. Procedimento secondo la rivendicazione 2. caratterizzato dal fatto che l'operazione di raffreddamento degli stadi (d) ed (e) viene eseguita in acqua.
- 5. Manufatti in acciaio supermartensitico avente la composizione rivendicata nella rivendicazione 1., caratterizzati dal fatto di essere stati ottenuti per laminazione a caldo e di aver subito un trattamento termico comprendente le operazioni di austenitizzazione ad una temperatura compresa fra 880° e 980°C, il successivo raffreddamento ad una temperatura inferiore a 90 "C ed infine il rinvenimento ad una temperatura compresa fra 560° e 670 °C.
- 6. Manufatti come rivendicato nella rivendicazione 5. caratterizzati dal fatto di essere tubi senza saldatura . ( RE/ub )
