Abstract

La presente invenzione riguarda piante transgeniche che producono acido poli-beta-D-idrossibutirrico (PHB) e poliidrossialcanoati (PHA) correlati. La produzione di PHB viene realizzata mediante trasformazione genetica delle piante con geni modificati ricavati da microorganismi. I geni codificano gli enzimi richiesti per sintetizzare il PHB da acetil-CoA o metaboliti correlati. Il pHB è un polimero molto utile che è biodegradabile. (Fig. 1)
