999,532. Finishing fabrics. M. FARGAT. Aug. 4, 1961 [Aug. 4, 1960; Oct. 19, 1960; March 10, 1961], No. 28363/61. Heading D1S. A fabric is warp knitted on a warp knitting machine whose guide bars are each not shogged more than one wale to the right or to the left, and is then teazled, pressed and given a finishing treatment to give a nap which is such that the threads of the fabric can no longer be distinguished. The fabric may be knitted as shown diagrammatically of wool yarn. After knitting, the fabric is removed from the machine, cleaned, carbonised in sulphuric acid and milled, treated with a warm solution of sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide to remove the acid, fulled using fulling soap in tepid water, treated with water containing sodium carbonate to remove the soap, dried under widthwise tension, teazled using worn teazles with several passes through the gigging machine, pressed by a rotary press with a steam heated bed, brushed using steam, cropped, and pressed.
