Abstract

A magnetic composition having a maximum saturation induction within a restricted temperature range and a much smaller induction at temperatures both above and below this range has the formula Mn2- xyT1xT11y SbzIna wherein T1 is Cr and/or V, T11 is at least one of Fe, Ni, Co and Cu, x is within the range 0.003-0.25, y is within the range 0.003-0.25, z is within the range 0.5-1, a is within the range 0-0.5. The composition may be prepared by heating the components in an inert atmosphere or under vacuum to 600-1400 DEG C. and cooling as by quenching. The product may then be annealed at a temperature below its melting point.
