999, 146. Photographic processes. ILFORD Ltd. March 19, 1964 [April 8,1963], No. 13910/63. Heading G2C. A photographic silver halide material containing a developing agent such as hydroquinone is exposed, developed by applying with a roller an alkaline solution which contains a thickener so as to give the solution a viscosity at 20‹C. of 5 to 15 centipoises, and then treated with a stabilizer solution. The thickener may be sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose or an acrylamide/ acrylic acid copolymer. In an example, the alkaline solution comprises sodium hydroxide, sodium sulphite and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. Specifications 308,803, 884,390 and 902,313 are referred to.
