998,293. Viscose spinning. J. J. STOCKHAUSEN. Aug. 19, 1963 [Aug. 18, 1962], No. 32700/63. Addition to 947,115. Heading B5B. In viscose spinning, there is added to the viscose and/or to the coagulating bath one or more of compounds having the general formula where R is an alkyl or aryl radical and m and n are integers the sum of which is not greater than 8. Suitable compounds are lauryl di- (hydroxy ethyl)-amine oxide, phenyl di-(hydroxyethyl) amine oxide, N-bis-(diethoxy)- oleyl amine oxide, and N-bis-(tetraethoxy) stearyl amine oxide. The additive may be used in a proportion of 0À1 to 5g. per litre of ripened or unripened viscose, which is spun in known manner, suitably using a Muller bath. Spinneret incrustation and impurities in the precipitation bath are avoided, the viscose becomes transparent and has a greatly reduced surface tension, and the stretchability of the filaments formed is enhanced.
