Abstract

Artificial filaments and films are produced by spinning viscose containing 1-5 gm. per kilogram of viscose of a mixture consisting of 15-50% by weight of one or more polyglycols and 85-50% by weight of one or more alkoxylated amines of the formula <FORM:0829174/IV (a)/1> R1 and R2 representing alkylene oxide chains of the general formula -(CnH2nO)xH in which n is 2, 3 or 4 and in which x and n for R1 can be different from x and n for R2 and the sum of x for R1 and R2 is at least 5, and R3 being a hydrogen atom, an alkylene oxide chain, an alkyl radical, a cyclic or heterocyclic radical or a group of the formula <FORM:0829174/IV (a)/2> in which X is an aliphatic, aromatic or cycloaliphatic radical and R4 and R5 can be hydrogen atoms, alkylene oxide chains or aliphatic, cyclic or heterocyclic radicals. The viscose is spun into a bath containing sulphuric acid, sodium sulphate and at least 30 gm/Kg. of zinc sulphate and the products are stretched in a second, hot bath.
