Abstract
Artificial filaments, films and like products are produced by spinning viscose of gamma value 41-48 to which has been added between 0.2 and 1.0 gram per kilogram of viscose of a polyamine of one of the following formul <FORM:0810687/IV (a)/1> in which R1 and R2 are alkyl or one or more oxyethyl radicals, R5 is a nitrogen-containing ring bonded via the nitrogen atom to the X group, R3 and R4 are oxyethyl radicals, the total number of oxyethylene radicals in the compound being at least 4 and X is an alkylene, arylene or cycloalkylene group, which if desired, in the case of an alkylene group, may also contain one or more nitrogen atoms in the chain, the viscose being spun in a bath containing at least 3.2 per cent of zinc sulphate and 3.5-7.5 per cent of sulphuric acid. A number of suitable polyamines are formulated. The products may be stretched in a second hot, weakly acid bath, by 80-120 per cent, and collected.
