The invention comprises a process of producing colour images in which a silver halide emulsion is exposed to a first colour separation negative, colour developed and bleached, and then exposed to a second colour separation negative followed by colour development to a second colour and bleaching, the colour developing and/or bleaching solutions being thixotropic so that they may be applied to the emulsion as a thin layer, allowed to gel, and then washed off after reaction. An example is given wherein a colour developing solution containing 2,4-dichioro-1-naphthol and a bleaching solution comprising potassium ferricyanide and bromide, are made thixotropic by means of corn starch.
