Abstract

A slag containing by weight 43.5-70% Al2O3, 2-10% SiO2, 28-45% CaO and O-1.5% FeO and/or Fe2O3, for producing a high-alumina cement, and a pig iron containing less than 0.3% Si are simultaneously produced in a furnace by charging it, in regular layers or in a homogenous charge, with coke and slagging materials poor in silica of total composition 20-65% Al2O3, less than 7% SiO2, 10-60% CaO, and 1-7% FeO and/or Fe2O3 some or all of which may be added as iron ore, preferably having particle sizes Al2O3 5-25 mm., CaO 5-15 mm. and coke 5-50 mm., maintaining a uniform temperature above 2000 DEG C. in the blast area of the furnace by blowing hot air, with or without steam and/or added oxygen and/or liquid fuel, at a temperature of at least 600 DEG C. through the charge, and separately discharging the molten slag and pig iron.ALSO:A slag containing by weight 43.5-70% Al2O3, 2-10% SiO2, 28-45% CaO and 0-1.5% FeO and/or Fe2O3, for producing a high-alumina cement, and a pig iron containing less than 0.3% Si are simultaneously produced in a furnace by charging it, in regular layers or in a homogeneous charge, with coke and slagging materials poor in silica of total composition 20-65% Al2O3, less than 7% SiO2, 10-60% CaO, and 1-7% FeO and/or Fe2O3 some or all of which may be added as iron ore, preferably having particle sizes Al2O3 5-25 mm., CaO 5-15 mm. and coke 5-50 mm., maintaining a uniform temperature above 2000 DEG C. in the blast area of the furnace by blowing hot air, with or without steam and/or added oxygen and/or liquid fuel, at a temperature of at least 600 DEG C. through the charge, and separately discharging the molten slag and pig iron.
