Abstract
995,191. Devices for aiding starting; vaporizing fuel. C.A.V. Ltd. May 31, 1962 [June 12, 1961], No. 21087/61. Headings F1B and F1K. A device for aiding starting by supplying fuel to the intake manifold, in which a fuel valve 12, held to its seat by a stem 13, is opened by the differential expansion of the stem 13 and body 5 when an electric heating coil 7 is energized, is characterized in that the surface of the stem 13 is roughened or grooved to prevent fuel flowing therealong. The stem surface may be screwthreaded as shown, provided with circumferential grooves, knurled, or roughened by sand-blasting. The body 1 is screw-threaded at 2 for fitting into the intake manifold and may be provided with an entrance sleeve 3 with air inlet holes 4 to admit air for mixture with the fuel vaporized by the heater 7. The interior surface of the bore 10 may also be roughened by screw-threads.
