Abstract
993,954. Safe load indicators for jib-cranes. WEIGHLOAD Ltd. Feb. 13, 1964 [Jan. 31, 1963; May 20, 1963], Nos. 4040/63 and 20000/63. Heading B8B. In a safe load indicator for a jib-crane a pointer 31, Fig. 2, is moved clockwise by a pressure cell constructed as described in Specification 564,287, which measures the load being lifted, and a pointer 53 indicates the safe load for any given working radius and is moved anticlockwise as the radius is increased by a slave jib 36. When the pointers come into coincidence contacts 34, 55, Fig. 4, abut and a lamp 56 is lit. If the safe load is exceeded and the pointers pass each other a further contact 35, Fig. 5, offset from the pointer 53, abuts a contact 57 and a bell rings. The hydrostatic pressure fed to the pointer 31 by the load cell can be adjusted by a screw so that different methods of reeving the load pulley can be accommodated. The slave jib 36, Fig. 2, turns the pointer 53 through an arm 39 and an adjustable slide block 40 which can be adjusted for different jib lengths. The slide block 40 moves a slide 43 up and down and the latter carries a roller 45 which rotates an arm 47 about a pivot 48. This turns gear wheels 49, 50, 51 and the pointer 53.
