Abstract

1,000,613. Overload indicators for jib cranes. BRITISH HOIST & CRANE CO. Ltd. Feb. 6, 1964 [Feb. 6, 1963], No. 4820/63. Heading B8B. A safe load indicator for a luffing crane with a telescopic jib comprises a first series of electric switches which are actuated in succession as the jib is extended and a second series of switches associated with the first series which are actuated as the jib is luffed and means responding to both series of switches to operate an alarm or indicating device. The maximum safe load is indicated to the crane operator by lamps which light in a control panel. A device may be incorporated in the load cable which indicates to the operator the actual load being lifted. The working length of the jib may also be indicated. Figs. 1-4 of the Provisional Specification (not shown) illustrate a circuit diagram of one embodiment of the invention.
