993,874. Rotary pumps. GEBR BECKER, G.m.b.H. Oct. 15, 1962 [Oct. 19, 1961], No. 39017/62. Heading F1F. In a rotary air-compressor and vacuum pump a mixture of atmospheric-air drawn through a narrow slot 14 into a cylinder 3 and air inducted through a suction chamber 10 is compressed by a rotary-piston 4 having outwardly-sliding vanes 7 before it is discharged through an outlet chamber 11, the centre of curvature of a portion of the peripheral wall of the cylinder within a section A coinciding with the axis of rotation of the piston whereas a portion 13 of the said wall has its centre of curvature on a line H remote from said axis and two diametrically-opposite portions 12 have their centres of curvature on a line G remote from one another, the radii of curvature of portions 12 being different from those of the other said portions.
