Abstract
1,224,132. Gear pumps. CHEMETRON CORP April 9, 1969 [April 9, 1968], No.18199/69. Heading F1F. [Also in Division B1] A gear pump 40, suitable for receiving viscous liquid from the rotary blades 34 of a film evaporator, comprises an idler gear 52 and a driven rotor gear 54, the intake of the pump being less than 0À5 inches from the tips of the blades 34. The liquid is discharged from the pump through port 50. If the liquid contains discrete solids, the pump shown in Fig.5 is suitable; for the intake port 46<SP>11</SP> , discharge port 50<SP>11</SP> and crescent 60<SP>11</SP> are located so that the liquid is not introduced into the roots of the idler gear 52<SP>11</SP>. The opening 62 in crescent 60<SP>11</SP> is connected to a source of compressed gas.
