Abstract

1332612 Rotary positive displacement pumps APAW S A 1 Feb 1972 [3 Feb 1971] 4750/72 Heading F1F [Also in Division B1] A liquid and air mixing gear pump comprises intermeshing gears 2 rotatably mounted in a casing, a low pressure liquid inlet port 14, air intake ports 6, 7, and a high pressure port 5 for discharging the air and liquid mixture, the air ports 6, 7 having foam collecting ducts 8, 9 communicating therewith, each duct being open to atmosphere. When the pump stops the high pressure side causes foam to be pushed into ducts 8, 9. On recommencing operation, the foam is sucked back immediately into the pump, suction of air then continuing in the usual manner.
