Abstract

1407408 Centrifugal blowers BRITISH GAS CORP 20 Oct 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 49027/71 Heading F1C A rotary blower 2, which may have two or more stages, is driven by a fluid-driven motor 3 and has at least one outlet 18 or 19 for connection of the supply hose of a breathing apparatus. A cylindrical casing 1 is provided with a carrying handle (9), Fig. 1 (not shown) and legs (7, 8). The motor 3 may be a vane-type air motor having an inlet 10 provided with a needle valve 13 and a pressure gauge 14 and connectible to a compressed air line. The blower air intake 16, which includes a filter 17, is located as far as possible from the exhaust 11 and silencer cowl 15 of the motor, to avoid drawing in the oilcontaminated motor exhaust air. Since the portion of the casing 1 containing the motor 3 is open to atmosphere, a pressure differential tending to cause contaminated air to leak along the driving shaft 4 into the blower compartment is avoided.
