Abstract
1400761 Axial and semi-axial flow pumps MASCHINENFABRIK ANDRITZ AG 29 June 1972 [6 July 1971] 30432/72 Heading F1C An axial or semi-axial flow impeller pump has a vertical axis and inlet and outlet connectors at right angles to the axis, the pump housing being divided by a partition into a lower part forming an inlet chamber and an upper part forming a discharge chamber, the inlet chamber and/or the discharge chamber being formed as chambers of rotation, the axes a-b and c-d of the inlet and outlet chambers being displaced away from the pump shaft axis. The pump shown in Fig. 1 comprises an axial-flow impeller 13 disposed within a housing 1 of cylindrical form which provides an inlet chamber 2 and a discharge chamber 3. The housing is formed with an inlet duct 5 and a discharge duct 6, also with a partition member 4 which separates the inlet chamber 2 and the discharge chamber 3. An opening 8 is provided in the partition 4 and an inlet duct 10 with leading portion 11, also an outlet duct 12 are disposed within the opening. Guide vanes 14 are disposed within the outlet duct to guide fluid discharged by impeller 13. A guide member 17 is disposed within the inlet chamber 2, also further guidemembers 15 and 16. Guide-members 18, 19 are disposed within the discharge chamber 3, the member 18 being of wedge form with the apex uppermost, and the member 19 being of wedge formation with the apex outermost. In Fig. 7 the pump impeller is part axial and part radial flow; an access opening is provided at the lower part of the housing being closed by a cover 22 on which the guide-member 17 is mounted. Further embodiments are described in which the inlet and outlet connectors are inclined at an acute angle one to the other, in which one inlet and two outlet connectors are provided and in which two inlet connectors and two outlet connectors are provided.
