Abstract

1395302 Centrifugal pumps KOBE Inc 24 July 1973 [14 Aug 1972] 35257/73 Heading F1C In a pump of the type in which liquid is picked up adjacent the periphery of a rotary casing 24 by means of a stationary scoop tube 40, the radial passage 62 within the scoop tube is divided into a leading compartment 64 and a trailing compartment 66 by means of a vane 68 which extends laterally from one side wall of the scoop tube to the other and extends generally radially outwardly from adjacent the outlet 44 of the scoop tube to adjacent the outer end of the radial passage. The vane 68 suppresses a loss-creating vortex which would otherwise form within or adjacent the outlet 44. The scoop tube 40 is secured to a discharge duct 46 which leads to an outlet 48. An inlet 30 communicates via an annular passage 34 with generally radial passages 38 in one end-wall 36 of the rotary casing 24.
