Abstract
984,429. Folding chairs. FRANCISCO GUIX-MASSO. July 27, 1961 [July 30, 1960], No. 27237/61. Heading A4J. A folding chair comprises two U-frames 1, 2 pivotally connected at intermediate points 7 and forming the chair legs, a third U-frame 3 pivotally connected at 9 to the frame 1 forming the front legs, and a flexible sheet member 11 forming the seat and chair back disposed between two frames 2, 3, the chair being capable of being maintained in one of three erected positions or in a collapsed position. The third U-frame 3 pivotally carries folding arms 3<SP>1</SP> and a headrest comprising a flexible member 14 carried on the arms 13 of a fourth U-frame. Separate or integral stops 10 on one U- frame 2 are engaged by the ends 8 of the third U-frame 3 to maintain a first erected position as shown. In a second position (Fig. 5, not shown), for use as a bed, the inturned ends 8 of the third frame 3 are locked between the ground and the underside of the rear leg frame 2. In a third intermediate position (Fig. 4, not shown), the ends 8 engage between the frames 1, 2 and bear on the underside of the front leg frame 1.
