Abstract

983,388. Confining and removing waste products in industrial processes. SULZER BROS. Ltd. Feb. 3, 1964 [March 21, 1963], No. 4498/64. Heading F4X. [Also in Division D1] Pneumatic cleaning means for a textile machine comprises a conditioning apparatus 14 through which at least part of the air drawn into duct 5 by fan 1 passes, which duct 5 extends lengthwise of the machine and discharges the air to form an air curtain 24, means 32 for sucking in broken threads, dust, and fly together with at least some of the air forming the curtain, filtering means 35, and a second fan 31 arranged so that the ejected air passes into the surroundings and not back into the air conditioning apparatus. Dampers 9 and 10 are adjustable together to vary the proportions of ambient air and fresh air from duct 7 which enters channel 11. There is an additional damper 16 to control the amount of air which by-passes the air dampening chamber 14. In modifications ambient air entrance 6 may be adjacent the textile machines to suck air in from the interior thereof while filter box 30 may be at the other end of the machine. A travelling air blower may be provided.
