Abstract

886,510. Cleaning spinning &c. machines. PARKS-CRAMER CO. July 24, 1959 [July 25, 1958], No. 25508/59. Class 120(3) A spinning machine is cleaned by continuous suction currents adjacent the drafting rolls to withdraw continuously broken ends, and successively and intermittently occurring suction currents in different zones for removal of dust and fluff, all the currents having a common source. In a machine, Figs. 1 and 2, comprising separate manifolds 5 and 10 for continuous and intermittent currents, a suction box 1 housing a fan 2 is divided by a filter 4 into compartments for separate recovery of broken rovings and shortfibre fluff. Nozzles 6 from manifold 5 terminate at drafting rollers 7. Suction chambers 13 communicate with manifold 10 by means of valves 11 operated sequentially by electromagnets 12 and lead to one or more nozzles which are adjustable as to position and dimension and may debauch longitudinally in opposite directions; the assembly is mounted in a casing comprising a wall 14 common with the manifold, grids 15 having adjustable openings, and partitions 16 forming compartments each having a suction chamber. A modification, Fig. 5, comprises a single duct 19 connected to the suction box and to both the nozzles 6 and suction chambers 20 corresponding to chambers 13. The valves 11 may be operated by the movement of a travelling blower which also assists the cleaning action of the intermittent currents.
