922,473. Cleaning spinning-machines. AMERICAN MONORAIL CO. Jan. 26, 1960 [Feb. 4, 1959], No. 2791/60. Class 120 (3). Cleaning apparatus for one, or a row of, spinning-machines comprises an overhead track 5 on which runs a carriage 7 supporting a casing 15 for a fan 13 communicating with high- and low-pressure conduits 19 and 20 from which extend one or more tubes 21 and 25 provided with one or more outlets 22 and inlets 26 for directing air streams towards the machine(s) to remove lint therefrom and through which air and lint are drawn by suction, and screen(s) 30 disposed between the inlet(s) and the fan for removing lint from air flowing in the lowpressure conduit. Hinged doors 31 carrying cups 32 for collecting dislodged fibres enable the screens to be periodically cleaned. A modified casing 35, Figs. 5 and 7, comprises main walls 36, 37, 38, conduits 40, 41, and partitions 42, 43, defining a fan chamber 45, vacuum chamber 46, and passages 47, 48, leading to blowing and suction conduits 41, 40, the latter incorporating a filter screen 51 and clean-out door 50. In another modification of casing and conduits, Figs. 8-10 (not shown), the velocity of air flow is adjustable by dampers. In a further modification, Fig. 13, the suction system includes tubes 130 extending from casing 129 and provided with inlet nozzles or pipes 131, 132, 133. Two fans 142, Fig. 14, rotating about a horizontal axis may be disposed on opposite sides of the machine and lead to outlet and inlet tubes 146 and 145 incorporating screens 150. As shown in Fig. 18, suction tube 160 comprises an extension 161 hinged at 162 and having at its trailing edge a flexible wear strip 163. A flexible sleeve 165 prevents air leaking into tube 160.
