Abstract

930,331. Textile cleaning machines. AMERICAN MONORAIL CO. Feb. 25, 1960 [Aug. 6, 1959], No. 6659/60. Class 120 (3). [Also in Group XXVIII] A lint-collecting apparatus comprises floorengaging suction nozzles 19, Fig. 2, at the ends of vertical hoses 17 flanking a row of spinning machines 1, and connected at their upper ends by inclined tubular branch ducts 16 to a suction fan casing 12 carried by trucks 8 driven along overhead rails 7, and each duct 16 has a transverse lint-collecting screen 30 and a hinged door 35 which when the trucks pass a fixed cam bar 40 are opened to allow engagement with the dust-laden side of the screen of the upper end of a fixed vertical suction hose 53 connected at its lower end to the header 52 of a vertical hose 51 connected to a combined lint storage and fan chamber 50. Door operation is effected by engagement of the cam 40 with a roller 39, Fig. 4, at the end of a lever 37 pivoted to the branch duct 16 and connected by a link 36 to the door 35. In a modification lint is collected on the uppermost face of the screens 30<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6 (not shown) and reverse flow suction air is provided through upwardly extending branch ducts 53 (not shown) connected to the header of a vertical hose 51 disposed at the side of the row of machines and beyond the adjacent movable hose 17.
