Abstract

965,461. Air curtains. MINIBAY Ltd., and R. STERKEL. March 16, 1962 [March 17, 1961], No. 9810/61. Heading F4V. An air curtain which prevents or deters insects, small birds and dust particles from passing through an aperture in a building is formed by a fan unit and associated ducting located within the building, the ducting having an outlet opening so arranged as to direct air across the entire aperture to without the building. As shown, a fan 1 directs air along vertical ducting 7, tapered for pressure equalization, and through curved baffles 9 across the aperture 3, the curtain being so directed that its boundaries touch the inner edge 5 on one side of the aperture and the outer edge 6 on the other. The air for the fan may be drawn from outside via a duct 10 and a filter (not shown). In a modification (Figs. 4-6, not shown) the air is directed downwardly through directionally adjustable nozzles so as to impinge on the floor.
