Abstract
982,426. Tuning mechanisms. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1961 [Aug. 6, 1960], No. 28408/61. Heading H3Q. In a high-frequency tuning device with two frequency ranges, i.e. television bands I and III, the inductances 5, 7, 9-14 of the individual circuits of a radio receiver are mounted end-to-end on a single insulating tube 4 and tuning is effected by displacement of tuning cores 15 provided within the tube, through the agency of a connecting bar 16 and a cam plate 17. The cam plate 17 is mounted for axial displacement on a rotary shaft 26 and is tapered in the axial direction, a fine motion being provided which displaces the cam plate in this direction. The inductances 5, 9, 11, 13 for the one frequency range alternate with those, viz. 7, 10, 12, 14 for the second range, only one single tuning core 15 being provided for the two inductors of an individual circuit. Switching from one frequency range to the other is performed by movable shortcircuiting bridges 21 which interact with fixed contacts 18 and are carried by a bar 20 actuated by a second cam plate 22 which is integral with the tuning cam plate 17. Also integral with this cam plate are a slotted sleeve 25 which engages pin 27 whereby the cam plates are driven from the shaft 26, and a detent plate 24 co-operating with spring-loaded ball 37 to give a number of fixed tuning positions of the rotating mechanism corresponding to the channels to be received. In each channel position a conical projection 29 on the cam plate 17 is urged by spring 30 into engagement with the end of an adjustable screw 31 corresponding to that channel; fine tuning is performed by adjustment of the screws 31 by means of a spring- loaded screw-driver mechanism 34 carried in bearings 33 on the shaft 26, whereby the cam plate 17 is driven in the axial direction. A screen 23 is provided between the input circuits and valve and the remaining circuits and valves of the tuning device.
