Abstract

982,416. Drop handles. CAMBRIDGE THERMIONIC CORPORATION Oct. 16, 1962, No. 39096/62. Heading A4U. A drop handle assembly comprises a U- shaped handle 20 mounted for pivotal movement between two positions about an axis 28 extending through its ends 24, 25 which incorporate circumferentially spaced notches 32, 34 separated by an arcuate surface 36, mounting means 6, 7 having end slots 8 for receiving the handle ends 24, 25 and having a blind bore 14 in the base 12 of each slot 8, and a spring biased pin 16 slidably mounted in each bore 14, whereby as the handle 20 is rotated into each handle position the pins 16 will engage respective notches 32, 34 to releasably retain the handle in position and a shoulder 38 or 40 will engage the slot base 12 to positively limit rotation of the handle 20. The mounting means comprises threaded studs 6, 7 which are screwed into, or locked by nuts in, a mounting 4 e.g. a drawer. Alternatively (Fig. 5) rotation of the handle 120 beyond its horizontal extended position is limited by engagement of a surface 138 on the handle end with a shoulder 113 provided at one end of the slot 108 in the mounting plug 106.
