Abstract

982,140. Two-part couplings. MULTI-CONTACT A.G. Aug. 22, 1962, No. 32187/62. Heading H2E. A socket has contact springs to embrace a rigid plug pin, and a cam shaft which can be operated by a removable key or the like to tension a strip surrounding the contact springs so as to press them against the plug pin. The socket comprises a body 1 housing contact springs 5 which are partially encircled by a strip 7. The strip 7 passes over an eccentric shaft 8 journalled in the socket body 1 and rotatable by a spanner to force the contact springs 5 against the rigid plug 2. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the contact springs are formed by slotting the socket body. In a second modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the strip forces a plunger up on to the contact springs 5.
