Abstract

1,250,688. Two-part coupling. SIEMENS A.G. 8 Oct., 1969 [9 Oct., 1968], No. 49485/69. Heading H2E. In a multicontact connector for connecting to strip conductor layers 11 carried by insulating foils, one of the foils 9 acts as the plug-in member whilst the other 4 is arranged so that its conductors form the contacts of a socket and are pressed into contact with the plug conductors through a spring member 3 which is acted on through a spring clip 6 or through a cam (13, Fig. 3, not shown). The socket body is held together by springs 2 or by side plates (14). The foil 4 is secured to spring 3 together with a backing strip 5 and may be separated from the strip by a resilient support (16). The spring 3 is sectioned into strips such that each strip only covers two plug contact strips thereby allowing uniform pressure to be exerted on all contacts should irregularities exist in the plug contact surfaces. Locating plates (10, Fig. 1, not shown) may be attached to foil 9 and springs 2 to prevent relative movement of foils 4, 9.
