Abstract

1300717 Electric couplings ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 20175/71 Heading H2E A grounding foil 40, for mounting in a hollow conductor and earthing an electrical element to the conductor, comprises openings defined by tangs 42. Each tang is tempered so that the portion 44 has a stiffness greater than (preferably twice) that of portion 46. The front or terminal pin 32 of element 30 can slip through tangs 42 without touching them, but central portion 38 of the element is enlarged so that its outer surface will abut portions 44 of the tangs upon further insertion of element 30, and due to the relative stiffness of portions 44 and 46, the tangs will spread as shown in Fig. 3 providing good electrical contact and eliminating possible damage of element 30 by the front edge surfaces of the tangs.
