Abstract

1468100 Electric connectors THOMAS & BETTS CORP 18 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 6778/75 Heading H2E A connector comprises a metallic contact having a generally planar base portion from which extend parallel legs 26 with a conductor 38 receiving slot 28 between each two adjacent legs, each leg being skewed about a central axis B extending from the base and thus inclined to the plane of the base portion so that it is rotationally displaced about its said axis when engaged by a conductor in an associated slot. In the Fig. the solid lines slow the wavy contour of the legs prior to engagement with the conductors 38 having a transverse axis A inclined to the plane 48 of the base at a skew angle of between 5 and 15 degrees, and the broken lines show the contours of the legs rotatingly deflected by the engaged conductors 38. The legs may be planar (i.e. not wavy) and two parallel base portions may be connected by an integral bight to form a U-shaped connector with the slots of bases aligned. The legs may be tapered at the free ends, and be curved or stepped along their edges (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown), and provided with barbs (50, 56) for engaging two insulating mating housing members (52, 54, Figs. 4 and 5).
