Abstract

980,914. Wrapping-machines. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH) Ltd. Aug. 29, 1961 [Sept. 1, 1960], No. 30101/60. Heading B8C. Articles 49 such as bundles of saw blades are bonded in a machine comprising a conveyer 52 which feeds them into jaws 53 of a second conveyer, each article operating a micro-switch 58 to commence a cycle of operations in which it is carried by the jaws against a wrapper 11 which folds to U-form about it as both pass through a gap 18 to final folding means. Wrappers are fed from a magazine 12 by suction and conveyer means 13, 17 into the path of a pusher 19 which finally positions each one over the gap, Fig. 3. The latter is formed by elements 130, 14 and beneath them is a vertically reciprocating platform 34 against which the wrapper is pressed as the article passes with it through the gap. The platform descends with the article until a folder 64, Fig. 5, turns one upstanding end of the wrapper over its upper surface. A dog 69 on a conveyer 61 then removes the article and wrapper from the jaws 53 to beneath the element 130 which moves to fold over the final wrapper portion, and being heated, seals it in position.
