979,753. Undergarments. STEDMAN MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 8, 1962, No. 684/62. Heading A3V. A man's brief comprises a front part 1 with an arcuate lower edge 11 overlapping a pouch 12 made of elastic fabric seamed at 16 and lined with knitted fabric 13, non-extensible tapes 8, 9 are sewn to the upper part of the front 1, crossed and sewn to the edges of the pouch 12, the lower end of the tape 8 also being sewn to the lower part of the front 1 but the tape 9 is left free so that a fly opening 10 is provided. An expansion gusset 14 made of knitted ribbed cotton material is sewn directly to the pouch 12 unless the lining 13 is omitted, in which case pouch and gusset are sewn to an intermediate inextensible tape 15 (Fig. 6, not shown).
