Abstract

1,130,939. Pants. P. M. SAILHEN. 29 Dec., 1966 [10 Jan., 1966; 1 Dec., 1966], No. 58104/66. Heading A3V. [Also in Division A5] Under-pants for a patient suffering from hernia have a front portion 1 with a reinforcement 5 and a rear portion 3 with a reinforcement 7, there being straps 12 freely arranged in hems 11 around the leg holes of the garment, one end of each strap being permanently fixed to the garment and the other end of each strap being able to be secured to the garment in a chosen position so that the pressure of the garment on the abdomen can be adjusted. As shown, the leg straps 12 can be adjustably secured to the rear reinforcement 7 by adhesive, there being flaps 10 to cover the ends of the straps. The garment is of elastic material and the reinforcements are secured to the inside of the garment or are knitted into the garment during its manufacture. The reinforcement 5 may be provided with pockets 6 to receive pads to retain the hernia. The garment may be provided with a flap (2) (Figs. 1 and 8, not shown) arranged for permitting toilet. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 9, not shown) the straps are permanently secured at the rear of the garment and are adjustably secured at the front of the garment.
