A heater 5 for a false-twisting machine includes a removable tubular yarn guide 8 having a threading slot, which extends throughout its length, and is adapted to be closed by radial pressure exerted on the tube and/or by engagement with a member-e.g. a ridge-of appropriate dimensions provided in the heater. The slot may be parallel to the axis of the tube, or be helical or otherwise curved. The tube may be positioned at the outlet of the heater or may extend into the tube either separately or in combination with a further tubular guide 7.
