Abstract

1,173,594. False-twist spindles. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. 20 Feb., 1967 [26 Feb., 1966], No. 45206/65. Headings DID, D1F and D1N. A false-twist spindle comprises a twist locking device in the middle and a tubular member on either side, one member constituting the yarn inlet and having over at least part of its length an internal diameter of 0.04 inches or less. The twist locking device may comprise a pin perpendicular to, or inclined to the perpendicular to, the axis of the spindle and may be mounted in a body of larger diameter than the tubular members and from which the tubular members axially project. The tubular member which constitutes the yarn outlet may be identical to the member constituting the yarn inlet. The body and/or the tubular members may be composed of ferro-magnetic material so as to be able to be supported magnetically against two pairs of drive rollers which may be composed of, or have tyres of, polyurethane. A guide tube may be positioned below the spindle and have a ceramic annulus at each end.
