A closure device for hot water bottles comprises a moulded threaded plug or stopper 5 fitted with a sealing washer 8 and having a finger grip portion 7 in which there is an annular depression 11 adapted to receive a spare sealing washer 81. The depression 11 may be of ring or circular form and a recess may be provided opening into the depression to assist in the removal of the spare washer. The sealing washer 8 may be held in position against the base of the threaded portion. by means of a detachable plug-like member 9 received within a central tubular extension within the hollow threaded portion or may be sealed against the under face of a flange 6.
